Provide duct material, gages, reinforcing, and sealing for operating pressures indicated. C. Construct T's, bends, and elbows with minimum radius 1-1/ times centerline duct width. Where not possible and where rectangular elbows are used, provide turning vanes. Where acoustical lining is indicated, furnish turning vanes of perforated metal with glass fiber insulation. D. Increase duct sizes gradually, not exceeding 1 degrees divergence wherever possible; maximum degrees divergence upstream of equipment and degrees convergence downstream. E. Fabricate continuously welded round and oval duct fittings two gages heavier than duct gages indicated in SMACNA Standard. Minimum inch (0 mm) cemented slip joint, brazed or electric welded. Prime coat welded joints. F. Provide standard -degree lateral wye takeoffs. When space does not allow -degree lateral wye takeoff, use 0-degree conical tee connections. Install and seal ducts in accordance with SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible. Use high pressure duct sealant on all joints and seams, inside and outer cover for double wall duct systems. B. During construction, install temporary closures of metal or taped polyethylene on open ductwork to prevent construction dust from entering ductwork system. C. Use crimp joints with or without bead or beaded sleeve couplings for joining round duct sizes inch and smaller. D. Install duct hangers and supports in accordance with SMACNA and such as not to have sags in runs. E. Use double nuts and lock washers on threaded rod supports. F. Connect flexible ducts to metal ducts with adhesive, draw bands, plus sheet metal screws. Provide a minimum of two screws opposite of each other on round duct extractors. Install extractor spin ins with four screws, one on each corner. Do not make 0 degree turns with flexible ductwork. Provide rigid ductwork for all elbows. G. Connect flexible ducts to metal ducts with draw bands and adhesive plus sheet metal screws. Maximum flexible length shall not exceed feet, 0 inches. H. Set plenum doors to 1 inches (10 to 0 mm) above floor. Arrange door swing so fan static pressure holds door in closed position. I. Install kitchen range hoods in accordance with NFPA with stainless steel type welded for exhaust ducts. J. Install residue traps in kitchen hood exhaust ducts at base of vertical risers with provisions for clean out. K. Kitchen Hood Exhaust Ducts: Use stainless steel for ductwork exposed to view and stainless steel where ducts are concealed..0 INTERFACE WITH OTHER PRODUCTS A. Install openings in ductwork where required to accommodate thermometers and controllers. Install pitot tube openings for testing of systems. Install pitot tube complete with metal can with spring device or screw to prevent air leakage. Where openings are provided in insulated ductwork, install insulation material inside metal ring. B. Connect diffusers boots to low pressure ducts directly above hard ceiling with feet (1. m) maximum length of flexible duct held in place with strap or clamp above lay-in ceilings. C. Connect air terminal units and air outlets and inlets to supply ducts directly or with five foot (1. m) maximum length of flexible duct. Do not use flexible duct to change direction above hard ceilings. Direct connections required..0 CLEANING A. Division 1 - Execution and Closeout Requirements: Final cleaning. B. Clean duct system and force air at high velocity through duct to remove accumulated dust. To obtain sufficient air flow, clean one half of system completely before proceeding to other half. 1 -
