INTRODUCTION This is not an official explanation or description of ManageFlitter. This is a description of the way I and our team at The SocialMs uses ManageFlitter and tips and tricks to really get your Twitter account under control. ManageFlitter is a tool to help with your Twitter account: Target followers, clean up your following, analyze your success and much more. ManageFlitter has a lot of features you can use in different ways. This document is meant to give you an introduction to the functionality and a thorough idea on what you can achieve with ManageFlitter. However this document does not claim to be in any way complete and if you use ManageFlitter in a totally different way that is ok, too. Note that every Twitter account and every situation is different and so much depends on the number of your followers, the niche you are working in and how people interact in your own specific situation, that I do not claim that my way of using ManageFlitter is the best or the only one. In any case ManageFlitter has helped me grow my Twitter account to over 174k Followers. All accounts run by The Social Ms have a total of over 1Mio. followers and we use ManageFlitter for all of them on a regular basis. However, since the tool is so comprehensive, we want to point out that each and every use case is different. You should always keep in mind that you might even find a better way of using ManageFlitter for your own special situation. Since we started using ManageFlitter for the follow-unfollow strategy to grow targeted followers on Twitter, we will take a close look at these functions. We will however explain more of the great options you have with the tool. You can find both the free version and the pro version at: http://manageflitter.com (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 2 of! 10
THE FREE VERSION OF MANAGEFLITTER Let s start with the functionality of ManageFlitter you can use with the free version. It lets you use most of the unfollow functionality. You get 50 unfollows per day for free. You can raise this number by following the ManageFlitter Twitter account, tweeting about ManageFlitter, subscribing to their newsletter or inviting other people to ManageFlitter. Thus the free version will get you very far for unfollowing people. For following targeted people you will have to decide whether you want to invest into a paid account. The free version only allows you to follow up to 50 accounts per day and only accounts you found via the search function. This limits your options far too much for really following targeted accounts. The free version of ManageFlitter takes a little more time to upload all your account information. The paid version of ManageFlitter is considerably faster.unfollow: ManageFlitter uploads all accounts you are following. You can then filter all of these accounts by different criteria: - not following you back - not tweeting in your language - no profile picture - inactivity - spam score - follower-following ratio - talkative/quiet - influence With each filter you can sort the people you are following in different order: time of last tweet, number of followers, spam score, tweets per day. If you are going to be active in the follow-unfollow algorithm to build followers, this is very helpful. You can make sure that you only follow accounts which are desirable to have them follow you. When unfollowing some accounts you can easily pick the ones you are not so keen on being followed by first: Spammers, Inactives, etc. (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 3 of! 10
You can easily find your own routine who to unfollow with the many different options to unfollow. Here are some first suggestions who to unfollow first: - Spammers - Inactives - Since the inactive tab only gives you accounts whose last tweet was more than 30 days, you can also go to the Everyone You Follow tab, order all your followers by activity so that your followers whose last tweet was longer ago show up first, and unfollow everyone whose tweet was longer ago than 10 days. - People you follow who are Not Following Back keep following them for a few days. You should not unfollow them shortly after you followed them. You can also order all the people you are following by different criteria like how many times the accounts are listed, their influence, activity and tweets per day and the order in which you followed them. SEARCH The free version of ManageFlitter allows you to follow up to 50 accounts, which you found with the search function, per day. With the search function you can search for Twitter accounts mentioning a certain keyword in their bio, the latest tweet, name, website and specify a location. Example: Search for Content Marketing in Bio and narrow it down to location in New York. I suggest to search for active accounts. If you want to follow the accounts which the search provides, here are some more tips to get better results: - Narrow down the search by the number of followers search for accounts with 50 2000 followers - Search accounts who follow at least 20 other accounts accounts which are following zero people, tend to either be spammers or not willing to follow anyone back anyway. - Once you get a list of search results, beware: ManageFlitter declares accounts as active if they have tweeted within the last 30 days be careful to follow only accounts which are really active and which tweeted within the last 24 hours. POWERPOST ManageFlitter also lets you schedule tweets. It gives you a graphic to show you the time when most of your followers are up and active. This way you can time your most important Tweets at times when they will reach the most of your Twitter audience. In the example on the right, the best time to tweet to reach the biggest part of your followers would be 2pm for today. You can also set recurring tweets to go out in regular intervals. I do not recommend overusing this function for the following reason: It is totally ok to repeatedly send the same tweets on Twitter if the interval between the tweets is large enough and you tweet something else in between. The chances are high that you will not reach everyone from your audience with the first tweet anyway. But to keep sending the (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 5 of! 10
tweets over and over again at the same time, will most likely start to annoy some of your followers after a while. (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 6 of! 10
THE PRO ACCOUNT ManageFlitter has several different paid accounts. How much you need to pay for a Pro account on ManageFlitter depends on how many Twitter accounts you want to handle and if you need extra features like permission management (i.e. larger Agencies who handle multiple client Twitter accounts). It starts at 12$/ month for a single Twitter account and the full scope of unfollow and follow features. The business account which starts at 49$/month includes permission management and some advanced options to monitor keywords in Tweets. UNFOLLOW The pro account lets you unfollow an unlimited number of accounts per day. This is very handy if your account needs a thorough cleanup of several thousand uninteresting people you follow. The options for selecting accounts to unfollow are the same as with the free version. FOLLOW You can follow the followers of an account (i.e. a role-model, competitor or influencer) or the accounts this account is following. You can either have a quick search or a slower search with ordering. I recommend the slower search including ordering. Once ManageFlitter gives you a list of accounts following your chosen influencer you can then order these by activity and only follow the active ones, which tweeted within the last 24 hours. ManageFlitter keeps track of the last 10 accounts you searched for followers (or who they are following). You should not use the same accounts over and over again to avoid following and unfollowing the same accounts within a short time. (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 7 of! 10
! Since Twitter does not allow bulk following or unfollowing, if you want to follow a larger amount of accounts it makes sense to first batch select accounts for following and then process them all at once. It speeds up the process since you then have the accounts you want to follow not mixed up with accounts you already follow. (Manage Flitter also offer a Remote Management where you select criteria for following accounts and they do all the clicking for you.) SEARCH The search functionality in the paid ManageFlitter version gives you some more options in addition to the keywords in Bio search in the free version. Tweet search: You can search tweets for keywords in a specified location. This is useful if your business is local and you want to get into some local conversations. Or if you want to follow people who are talking about certain topics. Account search: You can also search your followers and the people you are following for keywords in their bios, tweets etc. I admit I do not very often use the search functions of ManageFlitter. POWERMODE The PowerMode of ManageFlitter is where you really hit gold for the efficient following of multiple Twitter users fulfilling given criteria. (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 8 of! 10
You cannot only search for followers of influencers and role-models. You can also filter the followers by multiple aspects like the number of followers they have, the language they tweet in, if they have a profile image, the spam probability, the time since the last tweet and by factors like if you have followed them before. And you can save this search for later. These filter criteria make this very efficient and targeted. If you have already followed the followers of an account, the PowerMode can keep you updated on how many new followers fulfilling your criteria have followed this account since you last followed their followers. From everything I know this is the most efficient, convenient, practical and targeted tool to find new people to follow with your Twitter account. SCHEDULE: In addition to the options for scheduling of the free version you are able to schedule more tweets at a time with the paid version. The paid version of ManageFlitter also gives you some suggestions for content you might want to schedule. ANALYZE: Apart from some more basic statistics on your account like number of followers, tweets, lists etc and the development of your account over time, the Analytics section of ManageFlitter also gives you the option to monitor keywords. The basic paid plan only gives you an overview of how many times per day your monitored keyword was mentioned in tweets. The business account gives you more sophisticated options to monitor and analyze. (haftungsbeschränkt) Page! 9 of! 10
FINAL WORDS: ManageFlitter is the best tool we tried so far for the follow-unfollow algorithm. It gives you a handful of additional features to analyze your account or to schedule tweets. But the main features and advantage lies in the very efficient and versatile options for unfollowing and following the right accounts on Twitter.
