DESCRIPTION OF COMPANY FORNEBU LUMBER COMPANY INC. Fornebu Lumber Company, is a lumber products and forest management operation. The company owns 16 000 hectares of productive forest land in New Brunswick, Canada and helps manage 900 000 hectares of forest land of behalf of the Crown. The annual harvest exceeds 1 000 000 m3. Each year approximately 7 000 000 trees are planted and 5 000 hectares of trees are thinned. The sawmill division owns and operates a specialized framing lumber sawmill in Bathurst, New Brunswick. At full capacity the sawmill consumes 400 000 m3 of wood, and produces 100 mmbf, or roughly 30 000 km of framing lumber annually. 75% of the lumber is exported to the US, with the majority of the production being utilized in the housing market. BACKGROUND During the period of Oct 10 to Oct 15 2016 Fornebu Lumber Company Inc. underwent a Surveillance 1 audit to the SFI 2015-2019 Forest Management Standard and SFI 2015-2019 Fiber Sourcing Standard standards. The registration cycle is over 3 years with surveillance audits conducted annually. This report summarizes the audit process and the results of the SAI Global evaluation. SCOPE OF CERTIFICATION Forest management activities planning, harvesting, transportation and silviculture on New Brunswick Crown Land (License 3) and company freehold. Sourcing of fiber from private land owners in New-Brunswick. The appendix 1: Rules of Use of SFI Certified Sourcing Label is not covered by the scope of this certificate EECUTIVE SUMMARY The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI ) program third-party audit was undertaken by SAI Global. SAI Global is an independent third party registrar that is accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) for registrations to SFI 2015-2019 Forest Management Standard and SFI 2015-2019 Fiber Sourcing Standard. This ensures the integrity and credibility of the audit process. The audit assessed active and completed harvest operations through interviews with the company staff and contractors. The audit also assessed the SFI documentation and records at the company s office.

THE AUDITORS The SAI Global audit team who performed the audit consisted of Daniel Martin, ing.f., audit team leader. The auditor is a Professional Foresters and certified lead auditor. AREAS OF NON-CONFORMANCE None identified. OPPORTUNTIES FOR IMPROVEMENT OFI 2016-01 (FM 2.3.4) Consider developing a form to register posttreatment stand data (including harvested tree species). OFI 2016-02 Consider evaluating the relevance of the MSDS for diesel exhaust fluid. CORRECTIVE ACTION PLANS COMPLAINTS No complaints have been received; therefore, the complaint handling process could not be verified. POSITIVE ASPECTS Visual aspect of procedures and work instructions (commercial thinning procedure, BMP for rutting and forwarding trails). All major non-conformances require an action plan to be implemented by the auditee within 90 days of an initial audit and subsequently 60 days or registration cannot be achieved/maintained. Minor Non-Conformances Isolated incidents that are non-critical but must be addressed before the next surveillance audit to maintain compliance to the SFI standard.
