The Trapezoid shape (4 in. high x 9in. deep x 11 in. and 7 in long) and efficient design allow wall units to be placed in unlimited patterns - from staggered running bond to random placement in straight, curved or serpentine walls - with little or no cutting. The multipurpose shape also doubles-up as a cap. The tumbled units have distressing on front and rear faces for a natural stone look. No individual corner stones are needed as the units can be split to make a corner or end of wall termination. Adaptable! - The 11-inch length is the perfect dimension for most projects. Pyzique Wall Accessories Pyzique Shares Color and Texture with Maytrx and Sigma PYZIQUE Radius wall and Firepit, PYZIQUE as cap PYZIQUE is a perfect match for the Maytrx Grill Kit (right) Reversible trapezoidal shape One face is 11 in. wide and one face 7 in. wide with a 9 in. depth. Its own interlock deters shifting. Available in Split Face and Renaissance Stone (distressed) in an array of solid and blended colors. One wall unit creates wall, corner and cap without mortar. Design freestanding walls, knee walls around patios and retaining walls up to 3 ft. high in straight and curved designs; tree rings and garden borders; raised patios; sitting walls; and steps. Ideal for paver edging, too. Build a vertically straight (90 degree) wall or use built-in grooves on the top of wall units for a 5/8 in. set back on courses. To make a square corner, simply split one wall unit in half, front to back through the middle. To make a capstone, just turn Pyzique units upside down and adhere with Hardscape Zone Adhesive from Cambridge. An elevated stone fireplace can be created using our steel fire ring insert and dual opposing cooking grates. Note: All dimensions quoted in this catalog are nominal and are for guidance only. Actual sizes will vary, particularly on the products designed to replicate natural stone which have features such as riven profiles and fettled edges. The size and quantities given usually allow a nominal 5mm or more of sand joint width. Your final selection should be made from actual samples obtained from your Authorized Cambridge Distributor or professional paving stone contractor. Cambridge Paving stones colors match or complement Cambridge Wall Systems colors. If you cannot find the color you are looking for, inquire about The Cambridge Custom Color Program through any Authorized Cambridge Distributor. The Cambridge ColorLab can match any desired color. Retaining Walls Pyzique PYZIQUE is not designed for walls over 3 feet of height and with no surcharge. For PYZIQUE walls of any height it is critical to use retaining wall construction techniques as given below and techniques that are common to engineered retaining walls. Retaining walls of any height, even one foot tall, can fail if not installed properly. All retaining walls require that surface water; rain, sprinklers, etc., be controlled behind the wall and drained away at the surface. Successful PYZIQUE retaining walls require proper retaining wall installation techniques including; adequate footing strength, rock placed behind the wall with a drain tube for drainage of infill water from behind the stones, proper compaction of the backfill soil and other requirements of the PYZIQUE system, such as proper set-back between the layers of stones. Excavate a trench approximately 14 inches wide. Follow this table for trench depth and thickness of the compactible rock leveling base. Wall Height Trench Depth Compactible Rock 3 6 3 2 4 2 1 2 1 The First Course Place the first layer of Pyzique stones smooth side down on the prepared foundation. Use a level in all directions and use a string line to verify straightness. Serpentine walls may be built. Be certain the base course is level and stones lay flat. For micro leveling and to help the stones lay flat use small handfuls of sand to level and stabilize the first course. Setback Alignment 5/8 Set Back Zero Set Back 5/8 Set Back Top of stone Top Cap Layer Set the center side alignment groove directly above the backmost 5/8 set back groove of the stones in the next lower layer. See stones at top of this page. Use this visual alignment for each successive layer of stones. Mat material can be used to filter soil fines that may migrate into your clean granular fill. A flexible drain tube is a competent way to assure drainage from behind your wall. As successive layers are set, stagger the face seams of the stones for interlocking wall strength. The normal bottom of each Pyzique stone is smooth. Place the bottom up for your cap layer. To avoid vandalism, use a paver grade glue to secure the cap layer to the layer below it. The cap layer may be set 1 forward for a cap layer overhang. Pyzique Making A Square Corner (Layer A) Start all corner layers at the corner and build away from that corner in both directions. Pyzique can make square corners by splitting one stone from front to back through the middle. Use paver adhesive at each X. Alternate Layer A with Layer B allowing for setback in both directions. (Layer B) 1/2 Stone 1/2 Stone Center Split Tiered Retaining Walls (The X Factor) The X Factor. It is important that the upper wall does not become a load on the lower wall. Set the upper wall s footing back (a minimum of x feet) from the top of the next lower wall. The distance should be equal to or greater than the height (x feet) of the lower wall. If the soil above your wall slopes upward you may be overloading the retaining wall. A tiered wall arrangement may be required to properly load the retaining walls. Any tiered wall structure exceeding 3 feet of total height should be designed by a segmental retaining wall engineer. X Grade SWALE X Minimum Mat Material Clean Granular Backfill Drain Tile Compacted Rock Base Top Soil Mat Material Clean Granular Backfill Drain Tile Compacted Rock Base Making Tri-Face Option You may wish to take advantage of Pyzique s tri-face option. Place a stone chisel in the corner tri-face groove of the face that will be exposed. One hit with a hammer on the chisel at each corner will give the tri-face option. Water Damage For all landscape retaining wall structures do not allow rain or other surface water, such as sprinkler water, to accumulate behind the wall and saturate the soil. This can cause wall failure. Use swales and/or drain tile to carry any surface water away from behind the landscape wall structure. Retaining walls are not built straight up unless expensive geogrid materials are used. Walls must have a horizontal force equal to or greater than the horizontal force of the soil being retained, otherwise the wall will fail. Pyzique is designed with a 5/8 set back for each row (5/8 horizontal tilt per 4 of wall height) to impose a horizontal force against the retained soil. For any of these projects, paver adhesive may be used to secure the stones in place. For The Best Adhesive Bond, Stones Should Be Clean And Dry. Cambridge Wall Book 125

Cambridge Pyzique Firepit/BBQ Kit Install Pyzique Cambridge Pyzique Fire Pit/BBQ Kit Install Instructions. The Cambridge Fire Pit/BBQ comes with 60 stones and the Fire pit/grill insert, 56 will be used for this project. This Project is 4 Layers high. Step 1: Find an area that is level and not too close to trees or structures. Place a stake in the middle of a 52 circle. Tie a rope on the stake and tie the other end 26 from the stake to a shovel, this will allow a circle to be cut in the topsoil. Excavate to a depth of 4 below undisturbed and Top Soil. Fill the Cavity with ¾ Crushed Stone and Compact with hand or plate tamper, finish by leveling 1 before surface grade. Step 3: Level the first Row as shown, place and level a Pyzique Stone in the middle of the excavation and assemble 14 Pyzique stones in a circle getting the finished height from the level stone in the middle of the circle. A 4 Level should help you get all the stones at the right height, use Concrete sand to fine level any stones that are low and use a rubber mallet for stones that are too high. The 14 stone Pyzique circle used in the 4 layers in this project will require a ¼ space between each stone; this is to allow air for the fire as well as heat dispersion during cold periods. Step4 Each Pyzique Stone top has a middle mark running inline with the I in Pyzique that can be used to guide the position of the stone center to offset the next course so that joints (vertical lines) do not overlap. Use the fire ring as a template for each course stone. Fill the Pyzique Circle with crushed Stone in the bottom two rows. Hint: Use the BBQ Ring to verify the inside clearance and to insure a perfect circle on each row. Step 5 Place the third row of Pyzique aligning the vertical edges in the same position as the first row. Step 6: The final row will be positioned in the same position as the second row with the exception that each stone will be turned over so that the Pyzique name is on the bottom of the stone, this will provide a smooth Cap row. A Short animation of this kits assembly is available for viewing on YouTube. com Search: Cambridge Pyzique Fire Pit Step 7 Insert The Fire Ring Assembly over the final Row. Once the fire pit insert is in place add approximately 50 lbs. of 3/8 Crushed Stone to the inside of the fire pit cavity until it reaches a depth of 11 inches from the top edge of the insert. 126 Cambridge Wall Book

Pyzique Installation Instructions: Pyzique Single-Sided Wall Pyzique wallstone dimensions are: Front Face: 4H x 9D x 11L Back Face: 4H x 9D x 7L These two faces allow many types of projects such as free-standing walls, steps, borders, raised planter beds, and Cambridge Pre-Packaged Pyzique Round Pyzique Landscape Barbeque & Fire Pit Kits. Single-Sided Setback Wall This project will outline a retaining or landscape wall. First Layer Place the first layer of Pyzique wallstones smooth side down on the prepared base. Be certain the base course is level and wallstones lay flat. Start from the Pyzique split corner and work out from that point in each direction. All long fronts should face forward. See Figure 1. Figure 1 The Pyzique wallstone is used to build the retaining wall, as well as the cap layer on the final layer. There are markings on the face and side of the Pyzique wallstone that will guide you during the project build. Visual Alignment System For A Setback Wall: Set the vertical alignment groove directly above the rear setback groove on the wallstones in the next lower Setback layer. Use this visual alignment for each layer of wallstones. As layers are set, stagger the face seams of the wallstones for interlocking wall strength. Front Setback Center Split Rear Setback Center Side Vertical Alignment Front Setback Center Split Rear Setback Center Side Vertical Alignment Rear Setback Note: When joining texture face to texture face as is required in the corner of this project, it is important to trim any face protrusions that will keep the corner length dimension from changing the length of the layer. Second Layer The corner will alternate on every layer. This will be the starting point for each layer. Use the visual alignment system to maintain setback from the layer below. All long fronts face forward. See Figure 2. Figure 2 Making Pyzique Corners: Refer to instructions for Cambridge Pyzique Double-Sided Wall. Figure 5 Third Layer The corner will alternate from the layer below and that will be the starting point for this layer. Continue to alternate the corner and build the wall to the height desired. See Figure 3. Cap Layer The Pyzique top has imprints that help with installation. For the cap layer, turn all wallstones over so the top is smooth. The cap layer is laid in the double-sided position. Alternating the wallstones using the front and back face will lead to a solid top cap layer. See Figure 4. Figure 3 Figure 4 The cap layer can be positioned as setback or vertical from the layer below using the visual alignment system or set it to protrude 1 inch forward of the layer below. Apply adhesive to all caps. Tips: There will come a time when a full wallstone will not work in the opening as you work away from the corners. Cut this wallstone to fit. See Figure 5. To finish the end of a wall, use the Pyzique corner as the finished end and then work back from that point to meet another corner. Another option is to cut a wallstone for adjustment as shown above to finish the layer if the opening is less than one full wallstone. All Pyzique retaining wall structures exceeding 36 inches should be designed by a segmental retaining wall engineer. Figure 6 Shown is a Pyzique retaining wall for a planting bed. Note alternating corner orientations. See Figure 6. 132 Cambridge Wall Book

Pyzique Installation Instructions: Pyzique Double-Sided Wall This project will outline a freestanding or sitting wall. Shown is a Pyzique freestanding, double-sided sitting wall with Cambridge 13-inch caps, Pyzique column and Cambridge Pre-Packaged Column Kit Cap & Hat. Alternate Faces The Pyzique vertical freestanding wall uses alternating faces of the front and rear of the wallstone to create a look of multiple sizes. See Figure 1. Figure 2 Figure 1 Figure 4 Second Layer Alternate from the corner and work out from that point in each direction. See Figure 4. Alternate long and short faces. Keep the center groove lined up on the top of the wallstones to assure that the wall is straight. This layout will repeat for layers with even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, etc). See Figure 4. Corners And Ends To make Pyzique corners and ends, split with a chisel or splitter along the pre-made split groove that runs down the center of the top through the letter I in Pyzique, which is imprinted on the wallstone. This will produce two texturefaced corners. See Figure 2. Tip: Pyzique wallstones are only 4 inches high. A splitter will make this project more efficient if corners are needed. Figure 3 First Layer Place the first layer of Pyzique wallstones smooth side down on the prepared base. Be certain the base is level and wallstones lay flat. See Figure 3. Start from the Pyzique split corner and work out from that point in each direction alternating long and short faces. Keep the center groove lined up on the top of the wallstones to assure that the wall is straight. This layout will repeat for layers with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, etc). Note: When joining texture face to texture face as is required in the corner of this project, it is important to trim any face protrusions that will keep the corner length dimension from changing the length of the layer. Third Layer The pattern repeats every other layer. See Figure 5. Figure 5 Pyzique Cap Layer The Pyzique wallstone top has imprints that help with installation. For the last layer, turn all wallstones over so the tops Figure 6 are smooth. See Figure 6. The cap layer is laid in the doublesided position. Alternate the wallstones utilizing the front and back faces to get a solid top, cap layer. This layer can be positioned vertically from the layer below using the visual alignment system. Apply adhesive to all caps. Cambridge Double-Sided Figure 7 13-Inch Cap The wall can be capped with the Cambridge 13-inch cap stone, which will allow a 2-inch overhang on each side of the double-sided wall. See Figure 7. Cambridge Wall Book 133
