What s New in NAV 2018? Dynamics NAV continues to be enhanced - creating powerful new opportunities to support all of your business ambitions. NAV has been re-engineered to take full advantage of the Microsoft 365 products, by connecting them with each other, such as Dynamics 365 applications, PowerApps, Flow, Office 365, Power BI and third-party applications. The look and feel of NAV 2018 is now very similar to Microsoft Dynamics 365. Right from the start, simplicity and choice continue to guide, innovations in product design, development, implementation and usability. In 2018, Microsoft Dynamics NAV will evolve into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, an ERP solution available on-premise and in the cloud, with all the core capabilities and more

What s New for Application Users The new setup and extensions button provides a single place for settings and has been added to Business Manager and Accountant role centres. From the drop-down list of actions, you can now open either setup pages for service connections or extensions. Wizards easily guide you through either setup process. Third-party extension providers can now easily add their actions to the list. There is a far greater choice of service extensions than before (World Pay, Microsoft Merchant Services, Image Analyser services). Assisted Setup now provides support to setup the reporting services. The setup reporting feature enables you to define how you would like to report (table or page) and decide which fields you want to include. Users are able to quickly publish an Odata feed - the feed can also be picked up in Excel using Get Data on the data tab.

User Tasks The new User Tasks feature enables you to create tasks and reminders for work to be completed. You can add a task for someone, set a time for it to be completed and review if it is completed or not. This is a good way for managers to remind staff of exceptions, such as processing a payment run early. And, this feature could even be linked to a specific page or a report, if relevant. Tasks assigned to a user show on their role centre as a pending task.

Direct Debit Mandates a standard feature On the customer card, we can now configure Direct Debit Mandates, including: when it was signed, one off or a number of collections, how many remaining collections etc. Employee ledger entries In general journal lines, there is a new account type and new balancing account type, employee. Image Analyser The Image Analyser extension uses powerful image analytics provided by the Computer Vision API for Microsoft Cognitive Services to detect attributes in the images that you add to items and contact persons, so you can easily review and assign them. Contact persons can recognise a person's gender or age Items identify can recognise attributes like type and colour

Power BI reporting Dynamics NAV provides Business Intelligence, in the place and time you need it. Not only are you able to view the Power BI reports you select, but you can also interact and filter the reports. Integration Dynamics 365 for Sales Connect to your Dynamics 365 for Sales solution in a few easy steps. synchronise your data across the two apps, including: sales orders, item availability, units of measure and currencies. Dynamics CRM has been rebranded and simplified to work better out-of-the -box. Submission of EC Sales List with more than 9999 lines You can now submit the EC Sales List report with more than 9999 lines. When you submit such large EC Sales List reports, NAV will generate messages and send them to the government gateway.

Posting directly to general ledger accounts from documents If you need to add an additional fee or service of some sort, you can now add it on the fly in the document and post the revenue to the correct general ledger account. Address validation [UK] The GetAddress.io UK Postcodes extension uses the getaddress API to find addresses in postcodes, in the UK. Synchronise vendors with Lexmark ICS for better OCR results You can now take advantage of vendor synchronisation when using Lexmark ICS. When enabled, any changes to a vendor or vendor bank account will trigger a synchronisation of those changes.

Preconfigured Excel reports The Business Manager and Accountant role centres have a new option in the ribbon for Excel templates. Cancel or correct job related posted invoices Now you just choose the Cancel or Correct actions on the posted invoice and a credit memo will be created. The job planning lines will be created automatically in the background. Posting setup and missing posting notifications You can now see a visual indication of mandatory G/L accounts that must be set to cover most of your scenarios related to specific posting setup. Better control of deleting posting setup has been added. Retrieve data from VAT Registration Number [UK] You can validate the VAT registration number of new customers, vendors, and contacts against the EC VAT VIES web service.

Migration from QuickBooks You can now import payroll transaction files in the QuickBooks IIF format by installing the QuickBooks Payroll File Import extension. The extension also contains a sample payroll file that you can use to try out the functionality, for example, in a demo company. Bulk invoicing from Bookings For companies using the Bookings app in Office 365, we have added the ability to do bulk invoicing for bookings.

Integration and simplicity Dynamics NAV offers enhancements to the core application, as well as deeper integration with Office 365 and Power BI. In Office 365 Experience Stay connected with all the parts of your business. Dynamics NAV works seamlessly with Office 365, which means you can easily manage business interactions with your customers and vendors directly within Outlook. Navigate effortlessly between your Dynamics NAV data and your office tools for example, Outlook, Microsoft Bookings or Excel. The improved compatibility enables you to easily create customers, vendors, quotes, and invoices, all without leaving Outlook. There is also improved Word integration, to help you lay out your documents professionally. Integrate Dynamics CRM Use a new wizard to guide you through the setup process, which enables seamless coupling of Dynamics CRM records with Dynamics NAV records. Be confident that your data is synchronised and up-to-date. You can keep prices and items updated in Dynamics CRM, using the mapping and synchronisation for currencies, units of measure, items and resources - creating a Dynamics NAV pricelist within CRM.

Enhanced user experience You can accomplish even more in your browser-based interface. For example, switch views to see and identify your list of records, including seeing picture thumbnails in different sizes, and use wizards to learn new concepts or simplify data entry. In the Web Client, you can also use popular shortcuts; for example, press Escape to instantly exit a page, or F5 to refresh the latest data in your browser, without fully reloading the page. Use advanced functionality by following intelligent, in application notifications, which guide you through relevant processes according to the context you are working in. These new types of notifications help even untrained users carry out advanced tasks, while the unobtrusive design does not prevent you from carrying on with your work. Optimised mobile CRM You can taking advantage of enhancements to the Sales and Relationship Management role centre. A simplified CRM includes contact management, interactions, and sales opportunities. You can also use improved interactions logging from your phone, logging email messages using Office 365. Finance enhancements The new default Account Schedules means that no set up is required, making it quick and intuitive to produce the financial reports that you need. Point in-time reporting means you can view the financial state of your business for any given time. Reporting is also made easier with the new Account Categories that provide structure to your chart of accounts. Payment reconciliation is now much more efficient because you can complete your payment and bank reconciliations in one step, matching all transactions at once, then posting and updating the bank reconciliation at the same time.

Cortana Intelligence Cortana Intelligence takes advantage of historical data and improves your insights into your predicted sales, helping you manage your stock and respond to your customers. Based on the forecast, the Sales and Inventory extension helps create replenishment requests for vendors, saving you time. You can be confident that you are working with the best predictions, because the system uses with the best predictions, because the system uses different machine learning algorithms and compares the results, returning the predictions with the highest level of quality.. Managing your items Organise and classify your products the way you want, performing advanced searches on your catalogue in just a few clicks and displaying only the information you need. You can create custom item attributes and assign an item attribute value, according to your business needs, helping you manage items or create sales documents. When you add your attributes and values to an item, you can see them all in a fact box, on both the card and the list. And you can filter your items based on attribute values, making it more efficient to add items to sales and purchase documents and limiting the list of items to choose from or take action on. Embedded Power BI Continuing the powerful integration, you can now use embedded Power BI to easily create insightful charts and reports, and then make them available within your Dynamics NAV role centre.

Extensions Modify your Dynamics NAV system without directly altering the source resources, making it easier to deploy, manage and upgrade customisations or extensions. Navigate through an install with only a few clicks and easily view extension information, such as name, description, version, publisher, and links. You can also install or uninstall extensions easily using the Extension Management page and quickly choose the extensions you want using the easily recognisable logos. eeverything Make it easier for your customers to pay your invoices online by including hyperlinks to payment services, such as PayPal. Even provide PayPal Standards payment links in invoices, supporting multiple ways of accepting payments, including credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can continue to make use of optical character recognition (OCR), to help you track the items that you get in. Dynamics NAV now enables you to extract the lines of an invoice and you can visually verify the information, training the OCR system online, using the Lexmark invoice capture service.
