Family, Career and Community Leaders of America FCCLA Mission To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation. FCCLA Creed We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. We face the future with warm courage and high hope. For we have a clear consciousness of seeking old and precious values. For we are the builders of homes, Homes for America s future, Homes where living will be the expression of everything that is good and fair, Homes where truth and love and security and faith will be realities, not dreams. To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life. 2. To strengthen the function of the family as a basic unit of society. 3. To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community. 4. To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony. 5. To promote greater understanding between youth and adults. 6. To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities. 7. To prepare for the multiple roles of men and women in today s society. 8. To promote family and consumer sciences and related occupations.

FCCLA Strategic Goals 1. Promote FCCLA as the premier youth leadership organization. 2. Refine and Strengthen services and resources for stakeholders. 3. Expand and Invest in internal and external relations.

Promote FCCLA as the Premier Youth Leadership Organization

Enhance FCCLA s Youth Leadership Programs Build upon the foundation of the FCCLA leadership programs to showcase FCCLA as the premiere organization preparing youth to lead in their families, careers, and communities through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Member Leadership Programs Coordinate a focus group to review current youth leadership offerings Review current youth leadership programs with employability skills, family living skills, and community leadership Propose changes and necessary additions to current youth leadership programs Engage leadership experts to build new programs that would be credible and nationally recognized Competitive Events Coordinate data that showcase competitive event participation and how it enhances youth leadership skills Identify and make the connection between competitive events and employability skills, family success, and community engagement Adviser Outreach Provide professional development and resources to assist advisers in formatting FCCLA Chapter Leadership educational resources Incorporate education resources and opportunities for adviser s professional development Business and Industry Impact Partner with business and industry leaders in the review of current leadership program revision Engage alumni and associate members in both the review and enhancement efforts of leadership programs Seek corporate internships and shadow days to build upon the FCCLA leadership programs FCCLA Strategic Goals > Promote FCCLA

Strengthen FCCLA Leadership in Family and Consumer Sciences Position FCCLA s leadership in the Family and Consumer Sciences fields and career options enabling youth members to explore leadership roles in these fields including but not limited to human services, hospitality and tourism, nutrition, early childhood development, financial literacy, fashion design and construction, interior design, culinary arts, and Family and Consumer Sciences education. Member Leadership Programs Research post-secondary and middle/high school courses offered in each state to determine the diversity and similarity of these programs Coordinate recruitment strategies for each of these programs Provide information on opportunities in each Family and Consumer Sciences field Promote examples of excellence and success in the Family and Consumer Sciences field Competitive Events Identify the impact of competitive events on career exploration in Family and Consumer Sciences fields Seek experts in the field of Family and Consumer Sciences to evaluate competitive events Research how to provide new career internship opportunities for competitive events participants Adviser Outreach Host training for advisers in connecting Family and Consumer Sciences fields to FCCLA programs and leadership opportunities Provide professional development for advisers in connecting FCCLA through new post-secondary program opportunities Business and Industry Impact Position FCCLA with business and industry leaders in Family and Consumer Sciences fields to research ways corporations can recognize youth leadership efforts Seek connections with nationally recognized leaders of Family and Consumer Sciences fields to build upon the platform of FCCLA leadership success FCCLA Strategic Goals > Promote FCCLA

Refine and Strengthen services and resources for stakeholders

Enhance Professional Development for Advisers at All Levels Build FCCLA professional development opportunities, resources, and tools for all state and chapter advisers. Post-Secondary Educators Research all post-secondary educator contacts to discover what they know about FCCLA, what they deliver to their students, and what they need from FCCLA Establish FCCLA as a continuing education provider Expand the engagement of experts in the post-secondary arena State Advisers Evaluate training resources and experiences for state advisers Explore National FCCLA credentialing program for state advisers Determine states at risk and establish support programs for those states Provide training from experts in business management to state advisers Chapter Advisers Develop training and education opportunities to expand and renew chapter adviser knowledge of FCCLA Explore developing a certified mentor program Research a training retreat for advisers that would be at a time with no youth attendees Build new e-learning opportunities for chapter advisers Expand and enhance recognition of chapter advisers and chapter success Provide resources for chapter engagement Develop promotional materials to highlight the benefits of attending conferences External Partnership Research funding opportunities to support state and chapter advisers Develop connections between our advisers and external partners who provide additional resources FCCLA Strategic Goals > Refine and Strengthen
