Drinking Water from Wastewater SolEco and Aqueous Solutions Providing drinking water to the World
Site-Specific Water Purification High quality water can be produced from brackish, sea and contaminated sources reliably and on a scale ranging from a few thousand litres per day to many millions. Understanding the raw water feed treatment requirements is the key to efficient desalination using reverse osmosis. The amount of salt and mineral content and level of contaminants can vary greatly and we provide solutions to meet these challenges throughout the entire desalination process. Reverse Osmosis Membrane Systems Improvements in membrane technology in recent years have seen costs reduce and efficiencies increase resulting in reverse osmosis desalination being widely accessible across a range of applications. We have more than a decade s experience installing RO systems, producing drinking water from natural resources such as bores, rivers and the sea, as well as facilitating recycling and reuse of contaminated industrial and mining wastewater.
The Process Design and Build State-of-the-art 2D and 3D software is used to design our desalination systems. Process design is optimised using the latest computer aided simulation software. Optimised designs mean higher efficiency plants resulting in lower energy, consumable and operating costs. Designs are reviewed using a hazard and operability study (HAZOP) process to ensure operator safety and compliance with all relevant standards and industry regulations. We follow stringent in-house drafting and documentation standards. Water quality and pilot testing To help clients evaluate the operational and cost benefits of different treatment technologies, we can provide water quality testing and small-scale mobile pilot plants to optimise the process for the full scale plant. RO Pre-treatment Each RO plant we build has a tailored pre-treatment system to handle the feed water supply. Our range of conventional and membrane pre-treatment solutions include: cartridge filtration media filtration with coagulation (optional) iron, manganese removal microfiltration (MF), ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) Pre-treatment chlorination and dechlorination RO Post-Treatment Post-treatment processes prepare desalinated water for use or consumption. As part of this process, we can provide: remineralisation and ph adjustment post-treatment UV and chlorine disinfection Electro Dialysis Reversal (EDR) for ultra pure applications
Containerisation Containerisation minimises onsite installation time and provides ease of transport. We can supply ultra filtration & reverse osmosis systems fully integrated inside a 20 or 40 shipping container, including pre-treatment, chemical dosing, disinfection, post treatment remineralisation and ph adjustment. Experience Matters With years of experience with the desalination process, our knowledge is second to none and all of our water desalination equipment is engineered to perform reliably. Our team of experienced technicians travel to some of the remotest parts of the globe to keep our machines operating and running smoothly. Our machines are built to require a minimum of service
Case Studies Remote Island Sea Water Desalination Plant Challenging feed water was causing the client s existing RO system to fail, causing significant downtime of the system which supplies essential drinking water. We designed and implemented a replacement system within a tight timeframe to provide a sustainable solution to reliably supply this essential service. Project Summary Fully containerised pre-treatment and SWRO modules in 2 x 40 containers In-house bench testing of feed water to determine effective pre-treatment Plant uses high quality components to mitigate the long term corrosive effects of exposure to sea water Energy recovery cuts power consumption by 50%, providing cost effective water in an environment where power is generated from costly imported diesel Project Specifics Location:, Papua New Guinea area Total System Capacity: 800,000 litres/day Feed Water quality: seawater Recovery : 45% Commissioned: June 2015
Case Studies Mining Integrated Water Treatment Glencore This remote mining camp required a complete water solution to provide potable water for the 1000 man FI/FO mine camp, high quality water for mine processing and onsite waste water treatment facilities established. Our team provided a complete service from design to commissioning. Project Summary Prepared a complete site water balance and designed layout to allow for future expansion plans Plant 1 is two containerised RO units providing 440,000lpd of fresh water for mine camp and process water Media filtration, chemical dosing, post chlorination and softening included Plant 2 is skid mounted RO unit providing 40,000lpd of fresh water for the port Modular waste water treatment plant (future expansion capabilities) is treating waste water 300,000lpd to Class A effluent standard Bio solids treatment, settling tanks, disinfection Project Specifics Location: Remote NT (Australia) Complete on site water management Feed Water source: Saline Bore Commissioned: January 2011
Case Studies Municipal Specialist Membrane Housing Installation The Aquasure Wonthaggi Desalination Plant was constructed on the Bass Coast near Wonthaggi, Southern Victoria. The plant will be an integral part of Victoria s water system, supplying water via a series of existing and proposed pipelines. Aqueous Solutions was awarded the contract to build and install 8000 membrane housings high pressure manifolds, energy recovery devices and racking system for the plant. This important project was completed within the one year term allocated. Project Summary Our team s technical expertise employed to achieve specified tolerances Specialised team of assembly technicians working in shifts to deliver on time Advanced scheduling to fulfil inspection and testing criteria Project Specifics Location: Wonthaggi VIC System Capacity: 300,000 klpd Feed Water quality: seawater Completed: May 2011
Case Studies Municipal Sewage Treatment Plant We have now installed the simple robust energy efficient technology at a number of sites. We now offer expansion modules into the municipal sector as a way of very simply and cost effectively increasing the treatment capacity at an existing site, or even as the core technology for a new site. As a completely pre-packaged, pre-engineered modular system, the onsite requirements for installation, design and hook-up are minimal. Project Summary Very energy efficient compared with activated sludge process (approx.20%) Very little sludge produced perhaps 5% of an activated sludge process, negligible bio-solids disposal, no sludge pressing required No large concrete / civil works required Minimal operator involvement Can be adapted to large installations Effluent quality passes stringent standards Project Specifics Units are currently designed and manufactured from our Melbourne facilities Units are ready to install within 12 weeks of order Hire and Lease arrangements are possible
