2.04 - EPOXY MIX When the resin and catalyst are blended, the mix shall have a viscosity of at least 2000 cps at 75 F. The mix shall be transparent in the use state. PART THREE - EXECUTION 3.01 - INSTALLATION A) PREPARATION OF SUBSURFACE: New concrete subsurfaces shall cure for 21 days prior to installation. All subsurfaces shall be clean and free of dirt, dust, oil, grease, frost, and abnormal moisture content. Subsurfaces shall be completely dry. Loose concrete and some types of paint shall be removed prior to installation by grinding, chipping, or sanding. Temperature of surface shall be above 6C? F when using Chem-Rez epoxy. A coating of Chem-Rez Primer shall be applied over the concrete in colder climates. The epoxy/aggregate installation shall be trowelled over wet Primer. A membrane is required on wood balconies or wood floors. B) APPLICATION OF EPOXY/AGGREGATE: Two parts Component A, resin, shall be mixed with one part Component B, curing agent, by volume. Pour the premixed epoxy over the appropriate amount of Natural stone in a 6 cu. ft. cement mixer and tumble until all stones are coated with epoxy, approximately 5-10 minutes. Dump and spread coated stones over subsurface and trowel to depth of 3/8 to 1/2 inch depending on stone size and subsurface irregularities. Material shall be trowelled to a flat and level finish. A 50 lb bag of stone plus 1 litre of Chem-Rez epoxy (pre-mixed) will cover approximately 8 to 10 sq ft. 3.02 - CLEAN-UP Project shall be clean and neat after installation. Any remainder is the propety of the installer; the installer will remove remainder promptly. 3.03 - SECURITY Project shall be protected to prevent disturbance of curing epoxy/aggregate until set, 6 to 10 hours, depending on ambient temperature. 3.04 - PERFORMANCE The Chem-Rez installation shall meet or exceed the performance/product specifications listed herein, plus: 1) Freeze-thaw cycling; no effect 2) Shrinkage; no effect 3) Flammability; self-extinguishing 4) Adhesion; 2000 psi Pg 3of5 Phone: (403) 252-7803 Fax: (403) 2522384 www.chemtron.ca
