FIBERGLASS LAMINATES.
Fiberglass laminates. Composition Elyplast sheets are continuous lamination products manufactured using polyester resin and fiberglass reinforcement(gfrp). The Elyplast standard version is orthopthalic resin based, carefully selected to have low levels of styrene, stabilised against UV rays and low shrinkage. Upon request the material can be produced with isopthalic Kristal and self-extinguishing resins. GFRP is a thermoset product. Applications Elyplast is a versatile product which is suitable for various uses and extreme conditions, such as roofs and skylights for industrial and agricultural buildings, greenhouses, porches, curtain walls and DIY. Being corrosion resistant, it is also used in water purification plants and as roofing in stables, composting, galvanising and tannery industries. When using the product for roofing applications it can be cut to suit the width of the roof; in case of wider roofs you should overlap the sheets. 2

Roll laminates. Corrugated Corrugated rolls having a profile similar to the zinc-coated sheets. Used for roofings, curtain walls, fencings shelters, etc. the wide range of height and length dimensions allows for continuous solution, reducing the number of overlaps. Flat Laminate products of various thicknesses, height and length dimensions, are particularly well suited to walls. They may be utilised to create doors, windows and vertical closures in general, in cases where durability is essential and to prevent against breakage and accidents. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS U.M. Straight sheets. This product line contains a wide range of profiles which reflects the profiles of the sheets most frequently used for roofings, translucent walls and discontinuous skylights on pitched roofings. Bending: Elyplast corrugated plates can be bent at the laying stage within certain limits, especially when roofings are not straight as it is the case of green houses. Ribbed Sheets Thanks to the wide range of profiles available by Brianza Plastica, ribbed sheets can be coupled to metal sheets in order to create skylights. In their opaque version, they can even represent an excellent alternative to metal sheets as they do no rust and in general have a good corrosion resistance, beside the fact that they are lighter than metal sheets and therefore easier to install. Elyonda. Opaque corrugated/ribbed sheets Elyonda (R146; R153; R177) are corrugated or ribbed opaque sheets made of polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass and alumina. Elyonda is produced using an exclusive isopthalic anti-uv gel coat applied to the surface exposed to weather corrosion. Light, resistant and longlasting, the Elyonda sheets are designed for use in all types of roofs and ceilings, allowing for greater design freedom whether on new buildings or partial or total restructuring projects. GELCOAT Gelcoat is a selected resin applied on the outside surface during the lamination phase. Gelcoat offers a stable surface which is resistant to atmospheric pollutants, is shock resistant and ensures the laminate retains its structural and functional integrity over time. On request, gelcoat protection can be combined together with Kristal resin. POLYESTER FILM ANTI UV (389 TYPE) Melinex 389 polyester film is particularly resistant against UV, so to ensure that the protected sheet retains its original characteristics over time, avoiding surface abrasion and slowing down the process of yellowing and loss of light transmission. Special resins. KRISTAL Kristal is a kind of resin which provides the laminates an increase of their translucency, so to allow light to pass through in a way very similar to glass. 9
Laying of straight sheets. The laying of sheets is from the bottom towards the top and perpendicular to the gutter line. Longitudinal laying direction: opposite to the direction of the main winds. Head overlap: in the case of gradient lower than 7% it is preferable to use sheets equal in length to pitch width (up to 6m), so as to prevent water from flowing back inside in case of heavy rain, and of strong wind in the direction of the ridge line. When transversal or head overlaps are foreseen, their length must be that indicated in the table, appropriate to the width of the pitch up to 15 m. GRADIENT (%) HEAD OVERLAP (mm) 7<P<10 250 10<P<15 230 15<P 200 Longitudinal overlap: in the case of fiber-cement it is recommended that you allow for the overlap of one wave and a quarter; in case of metal allow for the overlap of at least a whole wave. Disposal of rain water on low gradient slopes: between 7% and 15% the disposal of water may not be ensured if the height of the wave of the corrugated or ribbed sheets is not enough high. In this case it is advisable to use profiles with higher waves. Thermal expansion: the surface temperature may range from summer to winter by more than 50 C; to compensate the increase of length for sheets longer than 3 mt, it is advisable to provide for the ovalization of the fixing hole. Laying of curved sheets. The designer will evaluate the maximum clear span to which the sheets may be mounted in accordance with specific loading tests which ensure stress design with an adequate safety coefficient. Longitudinal laying direction: opposite to the direction of the main winds. Always fix the sheets on the flat parts between the ribs. 10

Service information. Recommendations The empty spaces in the roofing to be covered with transparent or opaque materials must be permanently protected by using a metallic net in accordance with the test required by UNI 494. Do not lay the sheets in case of strong wind. Do not treat the surfaces with unsuitable products (e.g.: paint remover, acids, solvents, strong bases). Do not expose to flames. Do not walk on the sheets without a weight distribution board. Snow and wind loads: the design takes into account loads resulting from snow and wind depending on the area and altitude. The test consists of ascertaining that the sheet (corrugated or ribbed) selected for the roofing in a particular area at a particular altitude is properly resistant. For loading capacity of the various profiles refer to the appropriate list. Packaging and transport Elyplast sheets are loaded on pallets; the rolls are packaged with cardboard and protective film and can be loaded freely and placed directly inside the truck. The sheets (in packages) are loaded in the truck by using a lift. The packages can be down loaded one by one if suitable on site means are available (e.g. forklifts), otherwise unloading must be done by hand, sheet by sheet.
