- 2-1. (a) Over the past two years automotive company N has been recalling airbags adding up to over 1 million cars. The software failure was due to a glitch in the airbag's sensory detectors. In short, the affected cars could not detect whether an adult was sitting in the car's passenger seat and as a result the airbags would not inflate. Two accidents due to this software failure were reported. Modern quality experts (Deming, Juran, Crosby, Ishikawa, Taguchi & Feigenbaum) has developed several theories and techniques that define quality management. Based on the problem above, which quality expert s theories are suitable for company N? Explain why and describe at least two (2) quality expert s theories you would suggest to avoid this problem. Sejak dua tahun yang lalu, syarikat automotif N telah menarik balik beg udara pada lebih 1 juta kereta. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kegagalan perisian berpunca dari masalah pengesanan deria beg udara. Dalam erti kata yang lain, kereta tersebut tidak dapat mengesan sama ada orang dewasa yang duduk di tempat duduk penumpang dan akibatnya, beg udara tidak akan mengembang. Terdapat dua kemalangan yang dilaporkan kerana kegagalan perisian ini. Pakar pengurusan kualiti moden (Deming, Juran, Crosby, Ishikawa, Taguchi & Feigenbaum) telah membangunkan beberapa teori dan teknik mengenai pengurusan kualiti. Berdasarkan masalah di atas, teori pakar pengurusan kualiti yang manakah sesuai untuk syarikat N? Calculate the Net Present Value (NPV), Return on Investment (ROI) and the year in which payback occurs for both projects. Based on your financial analysis, explain whether you would recommend investing in any of the project. (All calculations should be rounded to 3 decimal places.) (a) The owner of a hawker centre in Penang plans to install a wireless ordering system for all the hawkers. With the ordering system, the customers just need to sit down at the table and waiters will come with the tablet to take your orders. The orders will be sent to the respective hawkers through a wireless receiver and then displayed in a small LCD display. The owner of the hawker centre approaches you and asks you to perform a feasibility study for such project. Explain how you will use the Three-Sphere model to conduct the study.
