Principal Consultant Gender and Social Inclusion based in Sheffield or Edinburgh IOD PARC is seeking to recruit a Principal Consultant to lead its work on gender and social inclusion. IOD PARC has an established track record and longstanding expertise in gender equality and women s empowerment, working on gender equality, mainstreaming, social inclusion, SGBV, SRHR, protection, health and HIV assignments with national governments, international agencies, bilateral and multilateral organisations and civil society organisations, both North and South. We wish to expand our team and are now recruiting a Principal Consultant as part of our continued growth strategy and response to increasing demand from our portfolio of clients. The Principal Consultant (Gender and Social Inclusion) will build on our existing portfolio of work by securing and leading significant assignments. They will have a track record in gender equality and the international development sector with strong technical expertise and experience in monitoring and evaluation and/or organisation development. With extensive experience, the Principal Consultant will have in depth knowledge and backgrounds in key related areas such as international conventions and national policies, gender equality UN architecture, protection issues, participatory approaches and ethical standards in evaluation and research. The Principal Consultant will be an experienced and motivated team leader, of both gender focussed and multidisciplinary teams, to deliver high quality consulting assignments to clients. Within IOD PARC the Principal Consultant will lead on gender as a practice area and support a growing team of gender and social inclusion consultants to develop their technical and consulting skills. The Principal Consultant will demonstrate thought leadership; for example, publishing articles and papers and/ or exerting external influence about what works at conferences and seminars. Job Description JOB TITLE Principal Consultant Gender and Social Inclusion LOCATION: Sheffield or Edinburgh SALARY: Competitive; with performance related bonus Benefits include: 25 days of holiday entitlement, exclusive of Bank Holidays Stakeholder pension scheme - employee contributions up to 5% of earnings Flexible working Travel insurance JOB PURPOSE: Developing and undertaking professional fee earning work from current IOD PARC work streams REPORTING LINES: Director Generating and undertaking new work with existing clients or with new clients either in current or new markets Contributing to the shaping and development of IOD PARC, its practice areas, maintaining and building our reputational asset and market positioning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Undertake and generate new consulting assignments (leading, managing and/or as part of a team), strengthening IOD PARC s profile in a distinctive geographical or practice area, or defined client group Bring a significant breadth and depth of experience to deliver a stream of consulting work; providing technical support and development of skills to less experienced consultants, manage IOD PARC staff and associates working on assignments; and actively make and build relationships with groups and individuals who can work with and be associates for IOD PARC Contribute to the building and maintaining of relationships between the company and a range of clients, for example: donors and development agencies/ partners, other UK government departments, foundations and private sector organisations. 3

Person Specification Essential Experience Demonstrable evidence of undertaking large pieces of consulting work in a complex client system Ability to maintain strong, credible relationships with an extensive network of contacts for identifying potential technical collaborators Ability to develop strong relationships leading to contractual engagement or partnerships in consulting assignments Experience of project management, including demonstrable evidence of the capability to manage and lead large multidisciplinary consulting projects and teams Ability to provide technical oversight of practice portfolio Ability to effectively manage ambiguity and uncertainty Experience in development contexts is essential; experience in fragile and/or postconflict states is desirable. Qualifications/ Education Key Skills A relevant Master s degree or similar post graduate qualification or a significant body of internationally recognised work Our work is carried out mostly in English, so the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively in written and spoken English is essential Language skills in one or more international languages: Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish desirable Personal Qualities We are looking for energised and engaging people who are efficient and professional; good at managing demanding clients and delivering on time to a high standard. In addition to significant technical skills, applicants will need the personal credibility and stature to present effectively and authoritatively while being able to communicate with others at all levels in client / partner / stakeholder organisations.
