Elective courses 2017-2018 Climate change and forestry: monitoring and policies (6 ECTS) - Laura Secco, Unipd (elearning) The student will: understand climate change risks; familiarize with basic concepts of mitigation and adaptation; familiarize with role of forests in addressing climate change issues; understand the Post Kyoto Protocol; understand REDD+ mechanisms and governance; get and overview of voluntary and regional initiatives for the reduction and compensation of GHGs; understand best practices and limitation in forest carbon projects; understand the role of private investors and investments and the growing role of forest plantations Ecosystem Services Entrepreneurship: from ideas to business (6 CFU) This course is a result of an Erasmus+ funded Knowledge Alliance project (ECOSTAR), a high level and innovative project developed by 9 businesses and research partners including the University of Padova and ETIFOR (a spin-off of Padova University) as well as other organisations from UK, United States, Spain and Romania. The course aims to guide students to acquire key concepts and high-level entrepreneurial skills by working with ECOSTAR's business partners, to convert innovative ideas into successful business plans and activities, in the field of production and marketing of ecosystem services and biodiversity.
