This includes carrying out in-depth surveys and reports, as well as invoice validation, to ensure you are paying the correct amount at the correct time. We can advise on carbon reduction methods, including help with government legislative requirements such as ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) and GHG (Greenhouse Gas Emissions). Each Account Manager is fully trained within their specific field and will be on hand to resolve any queries you may have as quickly as possible. We will also supply updates on relevant legislation requirements and demand response issues. INVOICE MANAGEMENT & BILL VALIDATION BIU s Integrated Energy team collate and analyse consumption data received from billed invoices, AMR meters, control systems and manual meter readings. We will ensure you are paying the right charges at the right time. Our invoice management team produce high specification reports, covering multiple data from carbon emissions through to specific site readings. This will ensure that once any savings have been achieved, they are maintained long term. Our Integrated Energy Service is trusted by some of the largest companies in the UK to provide invoice validation and payment management. This service not only saves millions by ensuring costs are minimized, it also enables accurate management of all other aspects of your utility billing. Process Costs Research suggests that companies spend between 5 and 25 to process an individual invoice, however, in some cases the cost can be as high as 50. ENERGY REDUCTION SURVEYS BIU provide comprehensive energy audits and surveys that focus on three key areas controls, equipment and people. We determine the use of any equipment installed then look at the way in which it is used and controlled on a daily basis. We carry out independent reviews of equipment and controls to validate manufacturer specifications and confirm the operational performance characteristics. Where the potential for energy and cost reduction is proven, we manage the installation program, overseeing the equipment, suppliers and contractors. In addition to this, we also assess operational practices and individual awareness of energy use. This allows us to identify both the technical and behavioural changes that will be most effective for cost and consumption reduction. Our service does not stop there each client will have their own dedicated Account Manager to assist in implementing and applying energy reduction methods. AMR & METERING The major benefits of our Automated Meter Reading service (AMR) is that it allows us to look at your energy usage at half hourly periods on a daily basis. This not only makes it easier to identify areas of over-consumption, it also ensures any reductions in usage are reported directly from the meter to supplier, ensuring accuracy in billing. Energy Alarms In addition to our AMR and metering, we also provide an Energy Alarms service, which goes further than just reporting on energy usage. Our energy alarms are triggered when energy usage exceeds the expected consumption level and is reported on an individual site basis, making it ideal for organisations with multiple sites. TRIAD AVOIDANCE AND DEMAND RESPONSE If your organisation has large half hourly metered sites, then you are probably exposed to peak demand charges, also known as Triad charges. We can help you avoid this unnecessary cost by telling you when a Triad charge is likely to occur and advising what action to take. By signing up to our Triad Charge warning service we will inform you when a predicted Triad period is likely to be. This alert will be sent in the morning, giving you plenty of time to put load shedding measures in place. Why should I use BIU? We receive real time data feeds from electricity suppliers, the National Grid and weather stations to predict when a Triad period is likely to be. The level of data we process enables predictions to be more accurate and reduces the number of false alarms you receive. In the last three years BIU has released the fewest number of alerts of all Triad Warning Services within the UK, yet successfully predicted the highest ratio of Triad periods. 11

CARBON REDUCTION COMMITMENT / ESOS The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions for large organisations across the UK. Qualification is based on electricity consumption and organisations that meet the qualification criteria are required to monitor and report their energy consumption and CO2 emissions every year. Since the CRC scheme was introduced, we have been fully involved and have worked with some of the UK s largest companies to ensure they are fully equipped and prepared throughout each compliance year. We have a team of expert carbon management specialists who can guide you through all areas of the scheme, from initial consultation through to assessment and data collection and reporting. In addition to the CRC Scheme, we can also provide information and advice on other legislation and regulations, such as GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Reporting and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). CARBON REDUCTION ESOS - Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme ESOS (The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) has been set up by the UK Government (DECC) in response to an EU requirement to implement Article 8 of the Energy Efficiency Directive (Directive 2012/27/EU of the European Parliament). The ESOS legislation will apply to your business if you: - Are a private sector organisation with more than 250 employees OR - Have a turnover of at least 50m and a balance sheet of 43m. If you are affected, you will be required to complete the following: Measure total energy consumption (including transport) of the business Conduct energy audits at sites and determine cost effective energy reduction recommendations Report compliance to the Environment Agency every four years Whether you are looking for an initial consultation, advice and guidance or a complete Energy Audit, we cover all services related to ESOS, including keeping you up to date on any changes and upcoming deadlines to ensure you are fully compliant at all times. 12

Where costs are unhedged, our M2M247 system uses up to date trade prices available in the UK to provide energy prices in real-time. Market Eye Market Eye consolidates energy price data from the four primary broker screens which display wholesale prices. We also have the facility to tap into what is known as the fifth energy broker, ICE (Intercontinental Exchange), to monitor live oil prices. This gives BIU s Energy Traders a unique ability to capitalise on market movements as they take place. 13

ENERGY EFFICIENCY FUND Did you know? you can also use BIU s Energy Efficiency Fund towards the cost of your ESOS Energy Audits? These will be a requirement every four years and are a legal obligation. BIU s unique Energy Efficiency Fund offers a cost-effective way to install energy efficient measures into your business, at no extra cost to you. Through strategic evaluation, we prioritise product installations to ensure your consumption reduces as quickly as possible. These consumption reductions are offset against supplier invoices so that capital investment required is recovered from your utility budget.
