We are currently looking for qualified and experienced project staff for a Gender & Disability inclusive Economic Development Grant funded Project which aims to promote economic empowerment and social change by helping Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and vulnerable women in achieving sustainable livelihood & income generation opportunities. The project will work closely with all implementing partners, National & Provincial Government authorities, Disabled People's Organizations (DPO), Producer groups and savings clubs. Funded by the Australian NGO Corporation Programme (ANCP) working in collaboration with World Vision Australia, World Vision Lanka, CBM Australia and Promundo the project will cover Northern & Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka. PROJECT MANAGER Locations: To be based in North or East with extensive travel JOB PROFILE Working under the direct supervision of the Project Director, the position will be responsible to facilitate, guide and manage all the project activities/interventions while ensuring that the needs and rights of
targeted communities are protected and met in line with the grant requirements and World Vision Policies & Procedures. The Project Manager will work with the project implementing partners and all relevant stakeholders in line with the project design, ensuring delivery of project objectives, obtaining required technical support towards the effective implementation of the project while ensuring maximum professionalism and capacity building of project partners in executing the mandate of the Project. Major Responsibilities Provide leadership by developing concrete and specific plans for efficient and effective allocation of human, financial and capital resources to implement the project design as per project plan & grant agreement Coordinate with National, Provincial & District level stakeholders including family members with disabilities and women in distress, government stakeholders (Pradeshiya Sabha, Provincial Council etc.)to achieve the project deliverables by allocating resources, providing technical support, establishing effective communication systems, staffing needs and building capacity and supporting with timely reporting and strategic communication; Direct operations with clear communication, frequent visits and regular meetings to ensure that operations are being conducted according to plans; Control & monitor project operations - comparing actual performance against standards and work plans, adherence to operational processes and procedures and compliance with policies, security alerts, etc., and promptly addressing noncompliance Facilitate Value Chain assessment and analysis around main livelihood options appropriate for the given locality & community and promote viable businesses through access to credit, access to technology, access to information, business development services and income generation of the target beneficiaries;
Liaise with relevant Govt., International NGOs, UN, Advocacy Groups, etc to work together on issues related to gender, disability and economic development of the target communities Knowledge, skills & abilities A University Degree in Social Sciences/International Development or related discipline. Masters preferred. Strong Project management experience with Grant management (including staffing and financial management) preferred. Minimum 03 experience in a leadership role with hands-on experience in project design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting writing. Good understanding of the current socio, economic and political context of the North and East Provinces preferred Excellent communication skills in English (oral & written) with ability to communicate in Tamil and/or Sinhala Demonstrated capacity to function well in a team and contribute effectively to team efforts. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to plan own work and use time efficiently, manage conflicting priorities and work under pressure of tight and conflicting deadlines. Displays integrity, professionalism and respect for diversity exhibiting an exemplary lifestyle specific to local cultural context
Demonstrated leadership ability with ability to work with minimum supervision. Willing to travel within project areas of operation 50% of time with emotional maturity to adjust to harsh living conditions Computer literate Competent in the use of MS Office with good Excel, email & Internet.
