Recently, our rotary lobe pumps have quickly become more popular in the mining industry. Due to the nature of our pump and lobe design as well as the materials we have developed, your slurries can be pumped throughout your system with ease as compared to progressing cavity, centrifugal and metal lobe pumps. Our products are built to pump thick and abrasive slurries, with no pulsation, and easy inline repair.

Rotary Lobe Pumps Mining IT'S ALL ABUT THE LOBES Pulsation Free, Wet-End Rebuilds In-line, Variable Pressure The state of the art in positive displacement pumps. The HiFlo Lobe has increased capacity compared with former lobe designs while eliminating pulsation. When you choose a Vogelsang Rotary Lobe Pump, you get a product that is quieter, higher capacity, significantly smaller and longer lasting than any traditional pump in the mining industry. The convoluted design of the HiFlo Lobe provides a large cavity that's perfect for harsh and abrasive slurries. This design also makes it possible to achieve your desired pressure at a slower rpm which results in less damage to lobes and minimal wear to the rest of the pump. HiFlo pumps can self prime to 25' (8m), run dry, discharge to over 200psi (15 bar), pump forward or reverse and pass solids up to 2.5" (61mm). Our pumps are also very small compared to traditional pumps of the same capacity. This allows them to be placed into small areas with limited accessibility. They can be doubled and combined into powerful multi-stage systems that can easily move massive amounts of slurry. We offer pumps in many sizes and configurations to fit most any situation. There are also many options for internal parts. Harder less expensive elastomers are well suited for chemicals and slurries, allowing longer equipment life.

Quick and easy access to internal parts with inline wetend rebuilds means minimal downtime without disturbing connected piping. Robust Cartridge or Component Mechanical Seals provide long lasting protection of the buffer chamber and gearbox. Both Single and Double Mechanical Seals are available. Seals can also have an air gap if required by the application, and also be water flushed if required. No step down shafts. We have maximized the diameter of our shafts to prevent wear lobes, seals and bearings caused by shaft defelction. The lowest shaft deflection in the industry! Wear resistant internal plates maximize pump life and reduce service downtime. HiFlo rotary lobes provide pulsation-free pumping and adjustable housing segments allow for low cost wetend repairs & service Adjustable housing segments provide an accurate gap between the lobes and housing to minimize wear and maximize efficiency. Our housings come standard with grey cast iron, and also are available in tungsten carbide for high wear applications. We also have designs with radial liners, and advanced housing designs to assist in solids passing.

Rotary Lobe Pumps Mining APPLICATIONS Our pumps have been widely chosen for handling abrasive slurries, pumping silica suspensions up to 85% solid by weight with no settling out. Transferring tailings including particles up to 5mm in diameter, Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps help produce metals such as gold, platinum, vanadium, nickel, coal, copper, kaolin, trona, uranium and more. Vogelsang Pumps also have applications in copper tailings, natural kaoli, acid slurry platinum waste and ammonia metavanadate slurry. Thickener Underflow & Overflow Vogelsang offers the best choice to pump from your thickener underflow, or overflow. Centrifigal pumps are sometimes chosen but must run at high rpm in order to move the thick slurry. This makes them highly inefficient and prone to wear out quickly. Their High speed versus Vogelsang's relatively low speed allows the us to outperform them in all situations. Progressing Cavity (PC) pumps are also sometimes used, however the space consuming design of this pump makes it difficult to install in most mining applications. PC pumps are very difficult to maintain, especially in tight quarters. Most maintenance requires the removal of connected piping and a large open area around the pump to remove interal parts such as the rotor and stator. In contrast, Vogelsang rotary lobe pumps are all designed to be rebuilt inline without removal of piping. It's easy to perform maintenance in tight areas quickly with minimal hassle. PC pumps are also known for high spare parts cost. The wet-end parts on Vogelsang pumps are typically less expensive can help control the cost of pumping operations.

Transfer, Loading & Off-loading Vogelsang pumps are also great for moving chemical, emulsion, and abrasive slurries between tanks and other destinations throughout the system. Additionally, our pumps are perfect for truck and railcar loading and off-loading. Due to their compact design and suction lift ability.
