Report on Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration and Awareness and Training Program on BHIM App Download and Its Use CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh : On the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti awareness cum training program on BHIM App was organized by CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh on 14-04-2017 at Pukhuria, Mariani, Assam under the chairmanship of Dr. B. K. Singh, Director, CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh. Shri Rupjyoti Kurmi, Hon ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Mariani, Jorhat graced the function as the Chief Guest. Around 165 sericulture farmers including participants from NGOs, SHGs, entrepreneurs, and CMER&TI staff took part in the event. In the inaugural session, Dr. S.A. Ahmed, Sc-C of the institute welcomed all the invited the guests and other participants of the program. In his welcome address, he highlighted the achievements of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and explained the importance of BHIM App in Making India Cash Less Economy. In his inaugural speech, Chief Guest of the program stated that the constitution drafted by Bharat Ratna, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was aimed to bring a social revolution in the country freeing it from any sort of discrimination. He stated that the constitution provided the citizens with freedom of religion, abolished untouchability, advocated rights for women, bridged the gap amongst the classes of the society, reservations of jobs and education for members of the backward class. The Chief Guest further highlighted the cash less transactions and UPI based apps for economic reformations of India. He urged the need of co-operation from all agencies to exploit the full potential of UPI based Apps for cash less transactions among rural population of NE India. Dr. B.K. Singh, Director, CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh, in his speech pointed out that Baba Sahib was a prominent activist and social reformer who dedicated his life working for the upliftment of the Dalits and the socially backward class of India. Further, he stated that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a crusader of social equality and justice. He also explained the basic features of BHIM App and stated that the BHIM App gives an easy method of payment and fund transfer. He offers his thanks to farmers for their active participation and appealed to the farmers to

take the advantages of BHIM App for safe and immediate fund transfer in a single mobile application. Shri Praphulla Bora, Councilor, Bagchung Panchayat, Mariani attended the programme as the Guest of Honour and encouraged the participants and acknowledged Central Silk Board for organizing the event in the area. He urged the Central Silk Board for organization of such awareness programme in the area for the benefit of the farmers. A power point presentation for BHIM App was made and presented to participants by Shri Vijay N. Scientist-B in Hindi and by Shri R. Debnath, Sc-B of the institute in Assamese. Further, Dr James Keisa, Sc-C, Dr. M. Chutia, Sc-C; Dr. G. Subrahmanyam, Sc-B; Dr. P. Sangannavar, Sc- B, Dr. D. K. Jigyasu, Sc-B and Shri. H. Shyam Singh, AD (A&A) helped the farmers for downloading BHIM App in their mobiles. Different press media persons took part on the occasion. A fruitful interaction took place between farmers and the scientists of the Institute. The programme was ended with a vote of thanks offered by Dr. Mamoni Das Senapati, Scientist-C, CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh. **********

REPORTS OF REGIONAL STATIONS AND RECs OF CMER&TI, LAHDOIGARH RMRS, Boko: RMRS, Boko observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Batakuchi, Kamrup. A total of 156 participants including technical staffs and farm workers of RMRS, Boko, administrative and technical staffs of District Sericulture Office and lead farmers were participated in this occasion. On this occasion a training/demonstration programme on Download and use of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) and during the programme all the steps of downloading and installation of BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app, registration, set up of UPI PIN and transaction, etc through mobile phone was demonstrated. RERS, Shadnagar : RERS Sadnagar observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Horticulture training hall, Pillalamarri, Mahabubnagar, Telengana, to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 68 participants including State Sericulture staff, Horticulture cum Sericulture Officer, RSRS staff, RSRS contact workers sericulture farmers participated in this occasion. On the occasion, a training/demonstration programme on Download and use of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is an app that make simple, easy and quick payment transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was organized. During the programme all the steps of downloading and installation of BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app, registration, set up of UPI PIN and transaction, etc through mobile phone was demonstrated. RERS, Mendipathar: RERS Mendipathar observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Khotkhoti, Boko to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 60 participants including staff from DOS and REC, workers and lead sericulture farmers participated in this occasion. Sri Keshab Kalita, Farm Manager, ESG, Lankona, Boko, Kamrup participated the function as Special Guest.

Sri C. K. Bora, Tech. Assistant explained aims and objectives of the celebration. Sri Keshab Kalita, Dept. of Sericulture, Govt. of Assam elaborated the history of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and also highlighted the use of BHIM App. Dr. H. Barman, Scientist-C, from CSB briefly inform the greatness of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and his role in Indians Constitutional Committee. He explained how the BHIM App can be downloaded by using mobile phone. From public gathering, Sri Milan Rabha, a progressive Muga and Eri rearer, spoke to the people on this occasion. REC, Lakhimpur: Research Extension Centre, Central Silk Board, Lakhimpur had been observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at the office premises District Sericulture Office, Lakhimpur to mark the birthday of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. A total of 52 participants including technical staffs and farm workers of REC, Lakhimpur, administrative and technical staffs of District Sericulture Office and lead farmers were participated in this occasion. On the occasion, a training/demonstration programme on Download and use of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is an app that make simple, easy and quick payment transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was organized. During the programme all the steps of downloading and installation of BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app, registration, set up of UPI PIN and transaction, etc through mobile phone was demonstrated using multimedia projector as well as smart phone and the participants attended the programme also download the BHIM app in their mobile. REC, Coochbehar: REC, Coochbehar observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Alipurduar, Coochbehar, West Bengal, to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 96 participants including State Sericulture staff, REC staff, REC contact workers and sericulture farmers participated in this occasion. REC, Fatehpur: REC, Fatehpur observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Village Jara, Amauli Block, Fatehpur, to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 152 participants including staff from DOS and REC, workers and lead sericulture farmers participated in this occasion. The training/demonstration programme on Download and use of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is an app that make simple, easy and quick payment transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI) was organized. During the programme all the steps of downloading and installation of BHIM app, registration, set up of UPI PIN and transaction, etc through mobile phone was demonstrated. REC, Tura: REC, Tura observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Babopara, Dopokgiri, Tura to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 151 participants including staff from DOS and REC, workers participated in this occasion. The training cum demonstration programme on Download and use of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app was also conducted and participants downloaded during the programme. REC, Diphu: REC, Diphu observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Diphu Karbi Anglong, to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 65 participants including staff from DOS and REC, workers and farmers participated in this occasion. The training cum demonstration programme on Download and use of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app was also organized for downloading the same during the occasion. REC, Kokrajhar: REC, Kokrajhar observed Ambedkar Jayanti on 14.04.2017 at Kokrajhar, to mark the occasion of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti. A total of 103 participants including staff from DOS and REC, workers and farmers participated and downloaded the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app during the occasion.
