6 Isotape Adhesive Tapes for Electrical Insulation General Specifications Adhesive types Natural rubber Natural rubber adhesive requires a lowest temperature cure cycle to reach its maximum performance but is limited at 130 C for continuous use. Thermosetting Adhesive which increases its adhesion power after the first heat exposure and remains set regardless subsequent temperature cycle. Acrylic Acrylic adhesive resists to varnish solvents even if not fully cured. Acrylic offers a high ageing resistance until 155 C. Flame retardant Ability of the tape to withstand exposure to flame. FR material will not burn when exposed to the flame and will not continue to burn when the flame is removed. Quick stick or tack Ability of the tape to adhere to the surface under a very light pressure. It deter mines the ability of the adhesive to quickly wet the surface contacted. Silicone Silicone adhesive is used when extremely high temperature is required and up to 180 C. The heat cycle for this adhesive is higher and longer. Temperature rating Each adhesive tape is allowed to be used at continuous temperature level as shown in this table: This temperature index is for continuously use of 20 000 hours. Insulation class Temperature rating A 105 C B 130 C F 155 C H 180 C C 200 C Thermosetting cycles Rubber adhesive at 120 C (250 F): 3 hours at 130 C (275 F): 2 hours at 150 C (300 F): 1 hour Acrylic adhesive at 120 C (250 F): 3 hours at 130 C (275 F): 2 hours at 150 C (300 F): 1 hour Silicone adhesive at 260 C (500 F): 2 hours; 24 hours recommended for maximum resistance to solvent Storage conditions For the best shelf life, 15 C < temperature < 25 C Relative Humidity: 50% (± 30%) Rolls in their original packaging, protected from dust and UV Slitting tolerance Films ± 0,4 mm ( ±1/64 ) Cloths ± 0,4 mm ( ±1/64 ) Laminates ± 0,4 mm ( ±1/64 ) Length > 100 m ± 0,8 mm ( ±1/32 )
