Consumables Serological Pipettes A wide range of pipettes manufactured from crystal clear polystyrene. All pipettes up to 25ml are constructed in a single piece, eliminating the problem of sample hang-up and so providing greater accuracy (>98%). Each pipette has a colour coded plug for easy size identification. Graduations are fine and crisp, so easy to read with increased accuracy. The graduation also extends beyond the end of the scale to provide extra capacity when needed. Pipettes are available sterile, either individually wrapped in fibre-free paper/plastic sleeves or in plastic packs of 25. They are gamma irradiated, non cytotoxic, non haemolytic & non pyrogenic. The standard pipettes are also available non-sterile, in bulk zip-lock bags. Available to purchase in pack or case quantities. Standard narrow tip pipettes, suitable for general laboratory and tissue culture procedures Short pipettes, which are ideal for use in confined areas such as laminar flow cabinets Wide tip pipettes, designed for handling viscous solutions Open end pipettes, for the handling of very viscous solutions or suspensions 1.1 and 2.2ml milk and bacteriological pipettes Aspiration pipettes, non plugged and non graduated pipettes for transferring solutions where no accuracy is required and for vacuum aspirating procedures Capacity Plug Qty per Pack Cat. Consumables Iwaki, Glass Based Dishes These sterile dishes combine a culture environment with the optical surface required for high definition microscopy. They comprise a glass or quartz coverslip attached to the base of a 35mm polystyrene dish with non-toxic silicone adhesive. Available with a choice of either 12 or 27mm base diameter, they are ideal for observing live or dead cells using a confocal or light microscope. With the benefit of excellent transmittance and low fluorescence, they allow sensitive fluorescence measurements to be made at high magnification. Being glass-bottomed they are also ideal for use with differential interference contrast (DIC) techniques in light microscopy. Supplied sterile, individually wrapped. 673-274 to 673-277 Cat. Stirrers 640-010 shown with culture vessels 640-008 Techne, MCS Series of Biological Stirrers A range of five stirrers Seven culture vessels ranging from 125ml to 5000ml Calibrated speed control and interval stirring Unique stirring action The Techne range of biological stirrers is suitable for suspension cell culture and for microcarriers. Uniform suspension of cell cultures and microcarrier beads is achieved by a gentle stirring action which aids attachment and promotes circulation of the medium around the cells to encourage a high rate of growth. Continuous stirring is adjustable up to 80rpm; the stirrers also incorporate fully variable interval stirring, whereby on times between 6 seconds and 5 minutes, and off times between 2 minutes and 2 hours can be selected. Special SOFTSTART design ensures controlled acceleration of the stirrer rod to the selected speed, thus avoiding excessive turbulence within the medium on start-up and eliminating the risk of cell damage. Each MCS biological stirrer comprises a polished stainless steel platform which houses the motor and controls; all models are suitable for incubator and/ or warm room use. Stirrers STEM Corporation, Ultra Slow Speed Stirrers A range of precision ultra-slow speed stirrers specially designed for biotechnology applications including cell culture stirring. Magnetic drivers with electronic control give a precise stirring action which is reproducible to better than one rpm, with minimal heat production. The splash proof, non-corrosive polymer case and 12V DC platform voltage make these units ideal for operation within fume cupboards, heated cabinets or incubators. Type A, pendulum, stirrers do not contact the bottom or sides of the vessel, preventing any grinding action. Large stirrer bars (eg. cat. no. 640-274) can be used with type B systems. Type A stirrer platforms have a point source magnet for use with STEM pendulum type stirrers (use of other pendulum-type stirrers should be verified). Type B stirrer platform have a bar magnet for suspended-bar or bar-type stirrer. AS635 and AS640 will accommodate both types due to their size. 640-253 640-255 640-259 640-260 Specifications Stir bar configuration Type A & B Type A Type B Model AS635 AS640 AS649 AS650 AS651 AS641 AS642 AS637 No. of positions 1x2L 4x2L 1x5L 1x10L 1x24L 1x5L 1x10L 1x24L Speed range, rpm 10 150 10 150 10 150 10 150 10 150 10 150 10 150 10 150 Total stir capacity, L 2 8 5 10 24 5 10 24 Maximum vessel diameter, mm 150 130 280 280 280 280 280 280 Dimensions (lxw), mm 150x150 260x260 260x260 260x260 260x260 260x260 260x260 260x260 Cat.
