15 Donated Another way to Food divert waste - FACILITATED DONATED MFB S network partner agencies pick up donated food directly from a retailer and take it to their pantry. Feel free to refer large or small grocers to MFB for one of these programs. 37% of total distribution
16 RETAIL Donated RESCUE Food PROGRAM MFB connects our partners with local businesses to pick up salvage food directly from the store. * * * It takes a specific program to rescue prepared food. Most food banks don t accept prepared food. Some soup kitchens & shelters will accept prepared food. It s best to have a food safety plan in advance.

19 Rescued Relish Drexel University Food Lab partnered with Brine Street Picklery to produce batches of relishes made from excess produce that Philabundance, the local anti-hunger organization, can't move. There are similar efforts underway at Maryland Food Bank as part of our FoodWorks program. We are continually find creative ways to prepare excess products and make these available through our partner distribution network, as well as retail and catering.
20 Donated We round out our Food product line with food that is PURCHASED MFB buys most-needed items at wholesale prices to ensure there is always an adequate supply. 20% of total distribution
