1 Farm Business Production Management Program Summative Assessment Wisconsin Technical College System Directions This Technical Skill Attainment (TSA) scoring guide will be used to document your attainment of technical skills at the end of the program. To meet the requirements on the scoring guide, you will be asked to draw upon the skills and concepts that have been developed throughout the program, and are necessary for successful employment in your field. Results will be used to inspire continual improvement of teaching and learning across the Wisconsin Technical College System. In addition, this assessment will provide feedback to you about your performance as a learner, student, and future employee in the field. This scoring guide will use assessed work you have already completed within the context of an existing course, across multiple courses, in a capstone project, lab rubrics, portfolios, or with any other format designated by Southwest Tech. Your instructor will provide detailed instructions on the tool(s) used. After your instructor completes this scoring guide, you will receive feedback on your performance including your areas of accomplishment and areas that need improvement. Program Outcomes PO1. Utilize agronomic resources for optimal farm production. PO2. Evaluate livestock management plans. PO3. Plan for operation and maintenance of farm facilities and equipment. PO4. Create farm business plans. PO5. Apply marketing principles to agricultural enterprises. Rating Scale MET Learner performed the skill and has MET all the requirements. NOT MET Learner did not complete the skill and does NOT MEET the requirements. Scoring Standard You must achieve a rating of 70% of the program outcome criteria to demonstrate competence. SCORING GUIDE

Utilize agronomic resources for optimal farm production MET NOT MET a) you apply agronomic resources productively b) you apply farming practices productively c) you complete a nutrient management plan d) you plan for controlling pests in accordance with standards e) you implement pesticide use plans in accordance with standards f) you explain land use limitations (legal) g) you analyze government programs (crop insurance) h) you perform tillage and conservation practices PO 2. Evaluate livestock management plans MET NOT MET a) you create a herd health protocol b) you analyze rations for various types of livestock c) you calculate a cost of production d) you develop animal welfare programs e) you develop standard operating procedures for livestock f) you maintain accurate production records g) you develop criteria for a breeding program h) you manage animal wastes in accordance with standards i) you implement management teams (veterinarian, nutritionist, lenders, etc.) j) you investigate emerging trends including new technology, industry regulations, This is optional for crops-only farming and would be left blank PO3.
