MISUSE Does your research have the potential for malevolent/criminal/terrorist abuse? 10. OTHER ETHICS ISSUES Are there any other ethics issues that should be taken into consideration? Please specify. Proposals involving any other ethical issues will be evaluated. However, INL s final decision regarding their inclusion in the ranked list will be made only subsequent to the outcome of the ethics review. In order to carry out any required ethics reviews, INL will identify and invite external experts on ethics to participate in the evaluation. If an application involves potential ethical issues, applicants will be requested to describe in the project proposal potential ethical aspects of the proposed research, regarding its objectives, the methodology and the possible implications of the results. Proposals that fail to properly address ethical issues or inadequately deal with privacy aspects will be rejected. pg. 8
9 There are some scientific areas that are excluded from funding and therefore will not be evaluated: Research activity involving human cloning for reproductive purposes. Research activity intended to modify the genetic heritage of human beings, which could make such changes inheritable (Research related to cancer treatment of the gonads can be financed). Research activities intended to create human embryos solely for the purpose of research or for the purpose of stem cell procurement, including by means of somatic cell nuclear transfer. All funded research must comply with the ethical principles for H2020 and Ethics for researchers. Describe any ethics issues that may arise in the proposal (1,5 pages max.). In particular, you should explain the benefit and burden of the experiments and the effects these may have on the research subject. pg. 9
