3 Closed single-use system reduces process times and simplifies collection New Technology in Microcarrier Separation and Cell Culture Harvest We utilize our expertise in single-use design and engineering to establish innovative technologies for use in cell culture-based vaccine production processes. The HyQ Harvestainer BPC enables separation of microcarriers and harvest of the cell culture supernatant in a single-step completely closed system. The Harvestainer BPC system features a dual chamber system comprised of a 200L BioProcess Container (BPC) that contains a 25L pillow-style BPC. This inner BPC, which is called the Thermo Scientific Microbarrier Labtainer BPC, has unique design features that enables the separation of cell culture supernatant from the microcarriers. Safe and Simple Using the Harvestainer BPC ensures full containment of the cell culture supernatant in a closed, single use system that eliminates the risk of cross-contamination. Additionally, the sophisticated design of this BPC reduces holdup volumes to increase recovery effiencies, giving you more product with less effort. Simple post-use disposal reduces cleaning costs and process cycle times.

4 How it works Transfer Port from Bioreactor Vent Adherent cells are cultured in a bioreactor using microcarrier beads Connect the Harvestainer BPC to the bioreactor via the transfer port Microbarrier Labtainer BPC Outer BPC Drain bioreactor contents directly into the Harvestainer BPC Microcarrier Beads Microcarrier beads are trapped in the Microbarrier Labtainer BPC, supernatant passes into the outer BPC Supernatant is ready for the next processing stage Bottom Drain Port Harvestainer BPC and microcarriers are ready for disposal Well Characterized and Customizable The Harvestainer BPC is comprised of well-characterized materials commonly used in single-use BPCs.
