1 Classroom Setup Guide Sage MAS 90 and 200 Manufacturing Training Version 8.0 You can teach Inventory Management, Bill of Materials, and Work Order individually or as part of the three and a half day Sage MAS 90 and 200 Manufacturing Training class. Review the following information before teaching the individual classes and the Manufacturing class. Manufacturing Class When teaching the Manufacturing class, Material Requirements Planning and an Integration Lab are included on the last day of class. Teach the Integration Lab after all modules are covered. The Integration Lab is intended to provide the student with an opportunity to work with all of the modules together. Certain concepts appear several times in Inventory Management, Bill of Materials, Work Order, and Material Requirements Planning. Review these concepts in depth when they are first introduced and simply review or skip entirely in the other modules. Trainer notes are provided to guide you in these areas. Inventory Management Inventory Management uses company SB1 for in-class activities. Only Inventory Management uses this company as transactions entered or omitted in Inventory Management may affect transactions and reports in the other modules. References to the Product References to the product in the trainer course curriculum and the student course curriculum are referring to Sage MAS 90 and 200. References to a feature specific to a product are indicated with the appropriate product name. Curriculum Version For the bundled course, the table below provides the version for each curriculum. This will aid you in verifying which version to use when teaching the Manufacturing class. Before downloading, print the File Download Instructions located at from the Classroom Setup link for complete details. PowerPoint Presentations are available for the Bill of Materials and Work Order curriculum. The case study and presentation versions correspond to the curriculum versions, not the software versions. Special Note: The case study has only been tested with the software and modules listed in the above table. Do not install or activate modules other than the ones listed in the above table as this may cause errors when trying to complete the activities and lab exercises in the curriculum. 3 Setup Instructions Follow the guidelines listed below to set up the student and trainer s workstation. Workstations should run Sage MAS 90 on their local drives Company codes MFG (MFG Computer Systems, Inc.) is used for in-class and lab activities in Bill of Materials, Work Order, MRP, and the Integration lab. Company code SB1 (Superior Bicycles, Inc.) is used for the Inventory Management in-class activities and MFG is used for the lab activities. Sage MAS 90 should have security enabled Create a Supervisor role with access to all tasks, security events, and module options Define the RMD user with a name of Robin and a user code of RMD. Assign the Supervisor role created for all companies to this user Passwords are not required The accounting date of 5/31/10 for the MFG company is used for Inventory Management and Bill of Materials, the accounting date of 05/30/10 is used for Work Order, and the accounting date of 06/03/10 is used for Material Requirements Planning. This is due to possible scheduling conflicts in the modules. The accounting date of 4/30/10 for the SB1 company is used for Inventory Management. Define a printer in Device Configurator to use when discussing Bar Code printing in Inventory Management. Define device code PW as the default windows printer All workstations should have access to a laser printer Define the laser printer as the default printer on each workstation Printing in Class Many in-class activities include steps to print reports. The trainer should indicate what output method the students should use for these activities. By setting up a user logon with supervisory rights, student can preview and update the registers and Daily Transaction Register. If the students are printing to an actual printer during class, review the steps for changing the company name in Company Maintenance to their name at the beginning of the class. 4 Sales Tax Setup Special setup is required for Accounts Receivable to ensure that sales tax information is defined correctly for activities. 6 Refreshing Data for Subsequent Classes The procedures for refreshing data depend on the course that is being taught. Individual Classes Refresh the case study data before each class, if taught individually. You should refresh the following folders with clean data before teaching the next class: The MAS_MFG and MAS_SB1 folders in the \MAS90 directory Manufacturing Class If modules are taught as part of the Manufacturing class, it is not necessary to refresh the case study data after teaching each section. It is important you keep in mind inventory values reflect transactions occuring in the previous sections and any entry errors in those sections may affect available quantities. Sales Tax Information The sales tax information defined for sales tax codes and tax schedules is stored in the \MAS90\SOA directory. You can only refresh this directory by deleting and reinstalling the software. This removes tax codes and tax schedules entered as part of the in-class activities.
