4 Course Details KEY DATA This course syllabus should be used to determine whether the course is appropriate for the students based on their current skill and functional training needs. The course is functional in nature and includes hands-on labs. Format: Instructor-led Number of days: 5 LOOK AND FEEL This five-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skill to manage and administer a Microsoft Dynamics AX installation. This training introduces individuals to Microsoft Dynamics AX Administration module. This training covers security, both inside and outside of the system, maintaining configurations, monitoring and tuning Microsoft Dynamics AX, and managing changes in the system. There are also sections on managing Global Address Books, Batch processes, s, Alerts, and Workflow. This training is intended as an advanced training material for the Administration module. This course is eligible for 35 CPE credits in the Computer Science field of study. AUDIENCE This training is intended for individuals who will be utilizing the administrative functionality of Microsoft Dynamics AX. The audience typically includes application system administrators who are tasked with configuring and tuning the application. In the event of a cancellation, RSM will contact any enrolled students. GUARANTEED TO RUN All hosted courses are guaranteed to run. RSM reserves the right to cancel courses or to make changes in course schedules up to 7 days before the commencement of a course. TRAVEL GUIDE Hosted Training You are responsible for making all arrangements for travel. We are located in the Denver Technology Center (DTC). You can fly into Denver International Airport (DEN) on most major airlines. It is recommended that you fly the evening before your class is scheduled to begin and depart the evening of the last day of class. On average please allow at least one hour to travel from our office to the airport South Ulster St. Suite 400 Denver, CO For hotel accommodations you can refer to our travel brochure where you can receive discounted rates at local hotels. Because we are located in the heart of the DTC, rental Proprietary and Confidential Page 5 of

6 cars are not mandatory. They can be useful if you want to travel around the greater Denver area to see one of our many great tourist attractions. Client Site Training If the client would like the trainer to follow a specific travel policy attach it upon execution of the statement of work. For clients with a Master Services Agreement (MSA), travel and expenses will be billed after the conclusion of the training. For clients without an MSA, an estimated amount will be billed at a fixed fee and must be paid before the trainer will book travel. PAYMENT All work performed shall be performed on a fixed fee basis. RSM will bill the Client upon execution of the statement of work according to the Master Services Agreement (MSA). For clients without an MSA, payments must be received before the beginning of the training. Refund Policy: Any cancellations 14 days prior to the scheduled course will be provided a 100% refund. Cancellations 7 days prior to the scheduled course will be provided with a 50% refund. Cancellations within 7 days of course commencement will not be refunded. Prerequisites STUDENTS Students attending this section of the course should have a basic understanding of: General knowledge of Microsoft Windows Basic knowledge of Dynamics AX navigation Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Proprietary and Confidential Page 6 of

7 ENVIRONMENT If the training will be conducted in Denver at the RSM office, the requirements listed below will be provided by RSM. Before the beginning of the first lesson the following materials and equipment will be required: A LCD Projector* Projection screen/surface A white board or Flip chart stand/paper (optional) Each attendee will need a Laptop/PC with the following available: Internet connection A VPN connection to Junction Solution (The connection information will be provided by the trainer upon the first day of training). RSM Technology Academy hosts the training images on a local server in our Denver offices. The VPN connection is required for the participants to connect to the Hyper-V training image. * The instructor can provide a projector if one is not available upon request only. 8 Course Outline MODULE 1: SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS Microsoft Dynamics AX has a variety of security and configuration options within the application framework, to help keep sensitive data safe, users focused on their roles, and the system as streamlined as possible. Microsoft Dynamics AX offers many security and configuration options. Knowing how to implement these options will help companies cover security needs. Review the security overview Discuss authentication methods Demonstrate adding users Adding System Users MODULE 2: MANAGING SECURITY Security is expanded in Microsoft Dynamics AX to a model that supports interoperability with many other systems that already exist. It is made up of reusable security roles, process cycles, duties, privileges, and permissions. Along with the new Extensible Data Security framework, these security tools give administrators greater control of individual and data access. This improves the adherence to internal policy and external security auditing controls. 9 MODULE 3: LAYERS AND MODELS Microsoft Dynamics AX uses a layering system where layers are a hierarchy of levels in the application source code. This ensures that modifications and additions can be made without interfering with the application objects on other levels. A model is a set of elements in a given layer. Each layer consists of one or more models. Each layer contains one system-generated model that is specific to that layer. Every element in a layer belongs to only one model. In other words, no element can belong to two models in the same layer, and every element must belong to a model. You do not have to create virtual companies for the global address book, as in past releases of Microsoft Dynamics AX. The global address book stores party record information for each organization or person that your organization has contact with, such as customers, vendors, competitors, and workers. A party is a person or organization that is either internal or external to your organization. An AOS enforces security, manages connections between clients and the database, and provides the foundation where Microsoft Dynamics AX business logic is executed. 16 MODULE 19: AOT SECURITY The developer manages the role-based security using the AOT in Microsoft Dynamics AX. This is an expansion of the capabilities of the system administrator in the AX UI. The developer can create models for the system administrator to use, without creating extra code or extensive maintenance. Query policies also can be developed that allow specific access to rows or records depending on the need to either enable or restrict views to data.
