2 Why versatility and durability matters for gutter material? Gutters are constantly exposed to unfavourable environmental conditions: Water ponding - Prolonged pooling of rain water in gutter will accelerate deterioration of the gutter material. This is especially critical at tropical region, whereby rain is abundant all year round and chances of water ponding at gutter is high. (Figure A & B) Sand abrasion - Sand particles and foreign objects that flow through the gutter cause constant abrasion to the gutter surface. (Figure C) Surface damages during installation - Scratches at job site during installation may compromise the durability of the conventional gutter material. Chemical exposure - In heavy industrial processes, emission of chemical substances which are acidic or alkaline is collected at the gutter. If the gutter is reactive to these chemicals, it would accelerate deterioration of the gutter material. All these conditions may result in premature failure of the gutter, and also cause leakage and moisture damage to the building interior. However, such problems can be easily prevented with a versatile and durable gutter material. A B C A durable gutter is important for buildings that are prone to corrosion problems, as well as for buildings where routine maintenance is not feasible: Buildings located at coastal areas, harbours and ports, refineries, iron and steel production facilities, chemical plants, indoor swimming pool and the like. Buildings located at mountainous areas, railway stations, power plants, airport facilities and so on. Thus, a durable gutter material is essential to enjoy a long term, maintenance-free protection.

Moreover, the extrusion process allows thick application of the resin over the core material, ensuring long-term resistance performance. The tested stainless steel shows similar performance as TUFFSHIELD gutter while galvanized steel shows significant sign of corrosion.

6 Superior Workability Bending test (180 bending, t=0, Magnified approx. 110 times) Made of long chain polymer molecules which interweave with each other, the resilience of the polymer makes TUFFSHIELD so easy to shape and install. It can be easily bent, punched out or rolled up. No cracks are observed at bent area.
