2 1.1 RESPONSIBILITIES General Requirement: Provide ing s to substrates, as documented. Documented is defined in 0171 General requirements as meaning contained in the contract documents. If you use a branded wksection, change the cross here. 1.4 STANDARDS Textured and membrane ings General: Comply with the recommendations of those parts of AS/NZS 2311 which are d in this wksection. 1.5 MANUFACTURER'S DOCUMENTS Technical manuals Technical and safety data sheets: System specification sheets: INTERPRETATION Definitions General: F the purposes of this wksection the following definitions apply: Additional definitions are provided in AS/NZS Adhesion (paint): Adhesion (paint): The sum total of fces of attachment between a dry film and its substrate. - Aggregate filled textured latex ing: An aggregate filled medium to high profile textured ing selected f aesthetic purposes to provide maximum relief from underlying surface irregularities accding to the application technique used. - Gloss: The optical property of a surface, characterised by its ability to reflect light specularly. - Gloss unit: Numerical value f the amount of specular reflection relative to that of a standard surface under the same geometric conditions. 3 - High-build low profile latex ing: A water based ing designed to be used over textured ings to increase the exposure perfmance of the. - Latex extensible wall ing ( membrane ing): A non-aggregate flexible watertight finish. - Levels of gloss finish: When the specular direction is 60 degrees, surfaces with the following specular gloss reading is defined as follows:. Full gloss: Over 85 gloss units.. Gloss: Between 50 and 85 gloss units.. Semi-gloss: Between 20 and 50 gloss units.. Low gloss (low sheen): Between 5 and 20 gloss units.. Flat finish (matt): Up to 5 gloss units. From AS/NZS 2311 clause 4.1. Gloss units are measured to AS/NZS Non-aggregate textured latex ing: A latex ing selected f aesthetic purposes to provide decative profiles accding to the application technique used. - Opacity: The ability of a paint textured and membrane ing to obliterate the colour difference of a substrate. - Paint ing : A product in liquid fm, which when applied to a surface, fms a dry film having protective, decative other specific technical properties. - Primer, prime : The first of a painting that helps bind subsequent s to the substrate and which may inhibit its deteriation. - : The surface to which a material product is applied. - Under: An intermediate fmulated to prepare a primed surface other prepared surface f the finishing. Edit the Definitions subclause to suit the project delete if not required. List alphabetically. 1.7 SUBMISSIONS Products and materials General: Granosite ing s have been selected f this project. Submit the selected manufacturer s details at least 3 weeks befe the ing is required, as follows: - brand name. - Technical data sheets. - Safety data sheets (SDS) showing the health and safety precautions to be taken during application. - The published recommendations f maintenance. Samples Granosite texture samples can be dered from Professional Services. See contact details at COMPANY CONTACTS. General: Submit, on representative substrates, samples of each ing showing surface preparation, colour, gloss level, texture, and physical properties. Coated samples schedule /texture Texture Sample size application /texture: If ing is required to be mixed tinted to match samples provided, consult the manufacturer to make sure that the colours selected are of satisfacty durability and opacity, and will confm to requirements in the specified number of s. Texture application: Nominate nap length of the roller. Subcontract General: Submit name and contact details of proposed specialist applicats. Delete if supplier/installer details are not required. Hold points, if required, should be inserted here. 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL Product substitution Other products: Confm to PRODUCTS, GENERAL, Substitutions in 0171 General requirements. The 0171 General requirements clause sets out the submissions required if the contract proposes alternative products. Refer also to NATSPEC TECHnote GEN 006 f me infmation on proprietary specification. Marking Identification: Marked to show the following: - Manufacturer s identification. - Product brand name. - Product type. - Quantity. - Product and batch number. - Material composition and characteristics such as volatility, flash point, light fastness, colour and pattern. Edit the list to suit the project delete if not required. 2.2 COATINGS Combinations General: Do not combine ings from different manufacturers in a ing. Delivery General: Deliver ings to the site in the manufacturer s labelled and unopened containers. Tinting General: Provide only products which are colour tinted by the manufacturer. 5 Part 2 Section 7 contains two schedules. The first lists toxic pigment components such as barium and cadmium and the second lists toxic solvents. The First Group of paints are banned f use on roofs, furniture, fences and gates, surface of non-industrial buildings and in premises used f products intended f human consumption. Check f any state variations. Standards types: - Wall ings - latex extensible: To AS/NZS Latex finish ings high-build, low profile: To AS/NZS Latex textured ings non aggregate: To AS/NZS Latex textured ings aggregate filled: To AS/NZS EXECUTION 3.1 PREPARATION Previously painted surfaces may require specific to one of the methods recommended in AS/NZS 2311 Section 7 which deals with pre-treatment - f example mechanical power cleaning, flame cleaning, water blasting. F previously painted surfaces which may contain lead, refer to AS Standards General: To AS/NZS 2311 Section 3. Order of wk Other trades: Befe applying textured and membrane ings, complete the wk of other trades as far as practicable within the area to be ed. Protection Fixtures: Remove do furniture, switch plates, light fittings and other fixtures befe starting ing, and refix in position undamaged on completion of the ing. Adjacent surfaces: Protect adjacent finished surfaces liable to damage from ing operations. Wet paint warning General: Place notices conspicuously and do not remove them until the ing is dry. Repair General: Clean off marks, ing spots and stains progressively and reste damaged surfaces to their iginal condition. Touch up: Apply seamless repairs to damaged decative ings misses with the ing batch used in the iginal application. s General: Prepare substrates to receive the ing s. Cleaning: Clean down the substrate surface. Do not cause undue damage to the substrate damage to, contamination of, the surroundings. Filling: Fill cracks and holes with fillers, sealants grouting cements as recommended by the ing manufacturer and as appropriate f the substrate. Moisture content: Do not commence application unless: - The moisture content of the substrate has been tested to AS 1884 Appendix A and the values in clause A3.1.2 A3.1.3 have been obtained. 3.2 APPLICATION Proprietary ing s General: Apply the complete ing to the manufacturer s technical data sheets. Standard Methods of application: To AS/NZS 2311 Section 6. Light levels General: 400 lux. Amend f other artificial illumination conditions. Drying General: Use a moisture meter to demonstrate that the moisture content of the substrate is at below the recommended maximum level f the type of ing and the substrate material.
