3 Saffron Acres / Heathcott-Whittier Road 68 new homes in Leicester All homes are required to be Passivhaus certified as a condition of the planning Social housing for emh homes Overheating risk has been evaluated in future climate scenarios Four different specifications are in use across the site Westframebuild system design has been evolved from previous site Encraft carry out regular site inspections to check quality of work Regular air tightness testing by the developer Westleigh Partnerships Cost approx 1,400 per sqm

4 St John s Alms-houses 18 new homes in Lichfield One block of 14 flats and 2 blocks of 2 flats Traditional Alms-house, fully serviced independent living units Brick and block cavity wall construction Externally supported balconies Centralised MVHR and gas heating for ease of maintenance in the large block Main contractor procurement was a challenge Main contractor subsequently went into receivership Cost approx. 2,000 per sqm

5 Lowther Road 14 new homes for private sale in Prestwich, Manchester Project led by developer R-Gen 4 pairs of semi-detached & a block of 6 flats Currently at planning stage Flats will be electrically heated with solar PV/thermal to offset Primary Energy Houses will be gas heated by individual boilers Dwellings will be sold at a premium and marketed on the basis of the low fuel bills and superior comfort provided Target build cost approx. 1,450 per sqm

6 Northwold Estate 450 new homes in Hackney, London Extensive demolish and rebuild programme Mixture of social housing and private sale for Guinness Partnership Compliance with the London Plan requires the development to achieve Zero Carbon Allowable solutions are an option but Guinness are keen to meet Zero Carbon with a Passivhaus Plus/Premium approach Electric heating is proposed, either direct or indirect via centralised heat pump Solar PV will be required in order to meet the Primary Energy Renewables criteria
