11 Pest Preparedness Policy 2004 The City of Barrie will provide public education and awareness of the significant threat that Asian Long-horned Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer poses to our urban forest. Staff to monitor ALHB, EAB and other future forest pests.

14 Pest Preparedness Policy November 2006: EAB Discovered in London 2007: Barrie implements a moratorium on planting Ash trees on public lands and recommends that Fraxinus be omitted from all private landscaping plans (e.g. site plan development)

17 Pest Preparedness Update: EAB Program March 26, 2012: Council adopts the Emerald Ash Borer Program Projected 15-Year, Two Phase EAB Program: Phase 1: 2012 to EAB discovery in Barrie a) Identify specimen ash trees for treatment b) Begin systematic removal and replacement of young ash trees on boulevards c) Proactive planting in areas of high ash component d) Public education on EAB

18 Pest Preparedness Update: EAB Program Phase 2: Post Discovery of EAB e) Begin bi-annual treatment of specimen ash f) Systematic removals to include mature ash where integration with other programs create efficiencies (e.g. block pruning program) g) Removal of all ash trees on a street or within a park where EAB has been discovered.
