4 1. Existing boilers Heating Station Mladost DHC Vratsa, is built to supply hot water (150/70º C) for space heating and domestic hot water preparation in part of residential areas of the town of Vratsa. There are two water heating boilers mounted in the station each of 58,15 MWt installed capacity respectively commissioned in 1987 and They are in good technical condition 2. Fuel used The main fuel used is natural gas. Heavy fuel oil is used as emergency fuel only. 3. Heat production and sales The period is characterised by the following main figures for heat production and sales in HS Mladost - Vratsa: No Indicator (GJ/year) 1. Heat produced Transmission losses and HS own needs Heat sold Proposed technology for heating station rehabilitation 4.1. Project Description The preliminary investigations show that in HS Mladost, Vratsa, the conditions allow for the same CHP project to be implemented as that in HS Vladislav Varnenchik in Varna (Case-study 4). It is proposed to build up a CHP installation to cover all year round domestic hot water needs and part of the basic space heating load. It is proposed to install two piston gas engines of same type with the following characteristics: Electrical capacity 3200 kwe Thermal capacity 3900 kwt Electrical efficiency 42,0 % Overall efficiency 93,0 % Hourly consumption of natural gas 825,25 Nm³/hour 4
5 4.2. Main project indicators The size and duration of heat load to be covered by the proposed CHP instillation will allow for 7000 operational hours per annum. The indicative technical and economic parameters of the installation and the preliminary financial results, according to accepted credit terms, are given in Tables below: 5
