5 1 Purpose This manual describes the properties of the circulating water in hot (permissible supply temperature above 100 C) and warm water systems. 2 Safety information CAUTION Circulating hot water can cause burns! The circulating water can reach temperatures of more than 100 C and cause serious burns. Let the circulating water system and the combined heat and power plant cool to room temperature before starting work. Pipes and tubing may only be installed by qualified specialists. Where there is a risk of freezing, specialists must be consulted to determine the cooling medium, and the requirements specified by the heat recovery boiler manufacturer must be complied with. A water analysis must be carried out to check water quality when topping off with larger amounts of water, but, in any event, at least 1 x per year. Insofar as the values listed in the table (Chapter 3) are not maintained, the customer must contract a specialist with the water treatment. Trisodium phosphate must be used for the base alkaline treatment of the water used for filling and topping off. 2G-TA 02 Heizkreislauf Edition: of 8

7 4 Untreated water, warm water, hot water Dirt trap (mesh size 0.1) The defined warm water return temperature may not be exceeded (emergency cooling provided or the combined heat and power plant will shut down). Allowable deviation for the return temperature: 70 C + 3 / - 20 C 50 C + 3 / - 10 C Determine interim values by interpolation. Allowable temperature change rates for the return temperature is max. 10 C per minute. Using a thermostat to regulate a constant return temperature at the intake to the aggregate is recommended. Integration in the heating system with its operating requirements must be carried out in accordance with 2G Energietechnik's guidelines. 5 Operating with a boiler Water quality in accordance with the boiler manufacturer's instructions. See the manufacturer's technical specifications and technical diagrams for the max. allowable temperature and pressures. 2G-TA 02 Heizkreislauf Edition: of 8
8 6 Water analysis When carrying out water analyses, the following must generally be observed : Proper sampling to avoid a distortion of the results. Use only clean glass or plastic receptacles. The receptacles must be rinsed thoroughly (3 to 5 times) with the water to be analyzed before sampling. If the water temperature is above 25 C, the sample must be taken from a cooler which has cooled the water to be analyzed to 25 C. The temperature, ph-value, oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations must be determined on-site immediately after the sample is taken. The analyses must be carried out as specified for the analysis of the respective water quality. The water analysis must be carried out with the greatest of care and precision. Because concentrations of substances in water are usually very small less than 0.1 %, in some cases less than 0.01 % a water analysis is like a chemical trace analysis for which sensitive methods of detection are necessary. The use of uniform dimensions for the concentrations of substances in water. The most common units are "mg/l" or "g/l" or "µg/l". The units "mol/m³" or "val/kg" are sometimes used. A one-time water analysis does not necessarily indicate the actual water quality in the systems over a longer period of time. An average of individual analyses must therefore be used to evaluate the water quality. 8 of 8 2G Energietechnik GmbH
