Different Dtex, counts and types, flat or texturized. Raw white or dope dyed. Normally, the product is coated with a coning oil. Typical amounts vary from 0.5 to 2.5% depending on yarn type and dtex. Product use Textile fabrics and other textile applications. Generally used in combination with other fibers, yarns, etc. 2. Hazards Identification There are no known physical or health hazards associated with this product. In skin test on human subjects, the fiber produced no irritation or sensitization. The polymer immobilizes the constituents of the polymer system (delusterants, catalyst residues, etc) which, therefore, presents no likelihood of exposure under normal conditions of processing and handly. This fiber may have been produced with carbon black and/or another dyeing particle. These compounds, as present in this material, are not water soluble and are encapsulated in the polymer. They are not extracted or released in normal processing and handling. Therefore these compounds are not expected to present a hazard in normal handling, processing, use and disposal. 3 7. Handling and Storage Precautions for Safe Handling Conditions for Safe Storage No special handling has been shown to be necessary. No smoking, open flames or sources of ignition in handling and storage areas. Avoid overstocking to prevent collapse or breakages of the packages. Do not store near flame or incompatible substance. 8. Polyester yarn have not been classified as carcinogens since carbons black and titanium dioxide are expected to remain bound within the product matrix during normal use. 12. Ecological Information Polyester yarns are not associated with any ecological problems. Under normal storage conditions, the polyester yarn is stable and does not decompose. 13. Disposal Information This product is not expected to produce significant eco-toxicity upon exposure to aquatic organisms and aquatic systems. Based on similar substances, this material is expected to be essentially non-biodegradable. If subsequent processing involves the use of water, the wastewater should be properly treated using purification equipment in the line according to the local environmental regulations. If recycling is not possible, polyester can be disposed of in a suitable landfill site or incinerator according to the environmental local regulations. Polyester yarn is not hazardous waste as defined by regulation implementing the Resource Conversation and Recovery Act ( RCRA ) 14. Other information Polyester yarns are coated with minor quantity of finish oils. Processes may volatilize protons of these finishes. Ventilation is recommended to minimize exposure to such finish mists. The information contained in this Safety Data Sheet ( SDS ) refers exclusively to the Polyester Yarn described herein. It covers neither its use in combination with any other material/preparation/product nor its use in any process. Do not use this product in medical applications, or in the manufacture of medical devices, involving permanent implantation in the human body.
