2 INDUSTRIES 2002 TDP 1. ASBESTOS ABATEMENT (102) The construction, demolition, repair, maintenance, remodeling or renovation of any public or private building or mechanical piping equipment or system involving the demolition, removal, encapsulation, salvage, or disposal of material, or outdoor activity, releasing or likely to release asbestos fibers into the air. 2. AUTOMOTIVE DEALERS, REPAIR SERVICES AND STATIONS (104) This group includes retail dealers selling new and used automobiles, boats recreational vehicles, utility trailers and motorcycles including mopeds; those selling new automobile parts and accessories; and gasoline stations. Automotive repair shops maintained by establishments engaged in the sale of new automobiles are also included. 3. CHEMICALS AND ALLIED PRODUCTS (106) This group includes establishments producing basic chemicals, and establishments manufacturing products by predominantly chemical processes. 4. CONSTRUCTION TRADE (107) This group includes special trade and contractors who undertake activities of a type that are specialized either to building construction, including work on mobile homes, or to both building projects. 5. ELECTRIC, GAS, SANITARY AND TELEPHONE SERVICES (123) This group includes establishments in the generation, transmission, and or distribution of electricity or gas or steam. Such establishments may be combinations of any of the above three services and also include other types of services and sanitary systems engaged in the collection and disposal of garbage sewage and other wastes by means of destroying or processing materials are also included. Telephone services have been added to this category. 6. ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS (127) This group includes establishments engaged in manufacturing machinery, apparatus and supplies for the generation, storage, transmission, transformation and utilization of electrical energy. Included are the manufacturing of electricity distribution equipment; radio and television receiving equipment; communications equipment; electronic components and accessories; and other electrical equipment and supplies. The manufacture of household appliances is included in this group. 7. ENVIRONMENT BYSTANDER (002) A person not occupationally exposed to asbestos but has had casual contact with asbestos through their surroundings. 8. FOOD AND KINDRED PRODUCTS (128) This group includes establishments manufacturing or processing foods and beverages for human consumption, and certain related products, such as manufactured ice, chewing gum, vegetable and animal fats and oils, and prepared feeds for animals and fowls. 2

3 9. GOVERNMENT, MUNICIPALITIES AND SCHOOLS (129) Government- The agency or apparatus through which a governing individual or body exercises authority and performs the required duties. Municipalities- A political unit, as a city or town, incorporated for self government. Schools- An institution for the instruction of children. 10. INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL MACHINERY AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT (130) This group includes establishments engaged in manufacturing industrial and commercial machinery and equipment and computers. Included are the manufacture of engines and turbines; farm and garden machinery; construction, mining and oil field machinery; elevators and conveying equipment; hoists, cranes, monorails and industrial machinery; computer and peripheral equipment and office machinery; and refrigeration and service industry machinery. Power driven hand tools are included in this group, whether electric or otherwise driven. 11. LOCAL AND SUBURBAN TRANSIT AND INTERURBAN HIGHWAY PASSENGER (131) This group includes establishments primarily engaged in furnishing local and suburban passenger transportation, such as those providing passenger transportation within a single municipality, contiguous municipalities, or a municipality and its suburban area, by bus, rail, or subway, either separately or in combination and establishments primarily engaged in furnishing highway passenger terminal or maintenance facilities. Intercity bus lines are included in this group. 12. LONGSHORE (109) The loading and unloading and checking of cargo to and from vessels, and the storage of these good on the docks and in warehouses. 13. MANVILLE ASBESTOS MANUFACTURING AND MINING (124) Johns Manville made and sold over 600 different asbestos products. In the Mid 60 s, the company had 30 plants manufacturing in the US and controlling interest in 8 overseas plants. It also owned and operated several asbestos fiber mines. 14. MARITIME (110) Of or suggesting a mariner. Of or concerned with shipping or navigation. 15. MEASURING, ANALYZING AND CONTROLLING INSTRUMENTS (132) This group includes establishments engaged in manufacturing instruments (including professional and scientific) for measuring, testing, analyzing and controlling and their associated sensors and accessories: optical instruments and lenses; surveying and drafting instruments; hydrological, hydrographic, meteorological and geophysical equipment; search, detection, navigation and guidance systems and equipment; surgical medical and dental instruments; equipment and supplies; ophthalmic goods; photographic equipment and supplies; watches and clocks. 16. METAL MINING (133) This group includes establishments primarily engaged in mining, developing mine, or exploring for metallic minerals (ores). This major group also includes all ore dressing and beneficiating operations, whether performed at mills operated in conjunction with the mines served or at mills, such as custom mills. These include mills that crash, grind, wash, dry, sinter, calcine or leach ore or perform gravity separation of flotation operations. 3

4 17. MILITARY (111) Of or relating to or typical of soldiers or the armed forces. 18. MINING AND QUARRYING NONMETALLIC MINERALS EXCEPT FUELS (134) This major group includes establishments primarily engaged in mining or quarrying, developing mines, or exploring for nonmetallic minerals, except fuels. Also included are certain well and brine operations, and primary preparation plants, such as those engaged in crushing, grinding, washing, or other concentration. 19. MUNITIONS PLANT (116) A place where war materials especially weapons and ammunition are manufactured. 20. NON MANVILLE ASBESTOS MANUFACTURING AND MINING (125) All non Manville, manufacturers who mined, made, and sold asbestos products. 21. OIL AND GAS EXTRACTION (135) Industries within the Oil and Gas Extraction sub sector operate and or develop oil and gas field properties. Such activities may include exploration for crude petroleum and natural gas; drilling, completing and equipping wells. 22. PAPER AND ALLIED PRODUCTS (118) This group includes establishments primarily engaged in the manufacture of pulps from wood and other cellulose fibers and from rags: the manufacture of paper and paperboard; and the manufacture of paper and paperboard into converted products, such as paper coated off the paper machine, paper bags of plastic films and sheet. 23. PETROLEUM AND RELATED INDUSTRIES (114) This group includes establishments primarily engaged in petroleum refining, manufacturing paving and roofing materials, and compounding lubricating oils and greases from purchased materials. 24. PIPELINES EXCEPT NATURAL GAS (136) This group includes establishments primarily engaged in the pipeline transportation of petroleum and other commodities, except natural gas. 25. PRIMARY METAL INDUSTRIES (108) The metal industry consists of five major metal industries. Industries included within this group: Primary Metals Copper Iron and Steel Foundries Primary Aluminum (nonferrous metals) Aluminum Mill Products 4

PRINTING, PUBLISHING AND ALLIED INDUSTRIES (137) This group includes establishments engaged in printing by one or more common processes, such as letterpress; lithography (including offset), gravure, or screen; and those establishments which perform services for the printing trade, such as bookbinding and plate making. This group also includes establishments engaged in publishing newspapers, books and periodicals, regardless of whether or not they do their own printing. 27. RAILROAD TRANSPORTATION (117) This group includes establishments furnishing transportation by line-haul railroad, and switching and terminal establishments. 28. RUBBER AND MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS (122) This group includes establishments manufacturing products, not elsewhere classified, from plastics resins and from natural, synthetic, or reclaimed rubber, gutta percha, balata, or gutta siak. This group includes establishments primarily manufacturing tires. 29. SHIPYARD (CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR OF SHIPS) (120) A yard where ships and vessels are repaired or built. 30. STONE, CLAY, GLASS AND CONCRETE PRODUCTS (112) This group includes establishments engaged in manufacturing flat glass and other glass products, cement, structural clay products, pottery, concrete and gypsum products and other products from materials taken principally from the earth in the form of stone, clay and sand. 31. TEXTILE MILL PRODUCTS (121) Textile Mills are classified by the type of products or process. The major processes of textile production include yarn spinning, weaving, knitting and tufting. Some textiles are non woven and are produced by fusing fibers with heat or bonding fibers by using a type of glue. 32. TOBACCO PRODUCTS (138) This group includes establishments engaged in manufacturing cigarettes, cigars, smoking and chewing tobacco, snuff and reconstituted tobacco and in stemming and redrying tobacco. Also included in this group is the manufacture of non-tobacco cigarettes. 33. TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT INCLUDING AUTOMOBILE AND AIRCRAFT (101) Industries in the Transportation Equipment Manufacturing subsector produce equipment for transporting people and goods. Transportation equipment is a type of machinery. This sector provides manufacturing, repairing, overhauling and selling in support of all kinds of transportation equipment. 34. WATER TRANSPORTATION (139) Industries in the Water Transportation sub sector provide water transportation of passengers and cargo using watercrafts, such as ships, barges and boats. The sub sector is composed of two industry groups: (1) one for deep sea, coastal and Great Lakes; and (2) one for inland water transportation.
