The various technical characteristics are depicted in section 2.3. The production sites of Tapetenfabrik Gebr. Rasch GmbH & Co. KG, Marburger Tapetenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG and Pickhardt + Siebert GmbH were analysed for the association EPD. This document is translated from the German Environmental Product Declaration into English. Product 2.1 Product description / Product definition The vinyl wallpapers with non-woven analysed are wall coverings with a vinyl coating and a substrate comprising a high-quality, breathable combination of cellular synthetic fibres which is durable, easy to process and of low flammability. The material can ensure that minor cracks in the subsurface or plaster joints are bridged. There is a choice between fully smooth to coarse embossing pattern surfaces and printed finished non-woven wallpaper. The substrate is dimensionally stable with the result that it does not require any soaking times when processing. EU Directive No. 305/2011 (Construction Products Regulation, CPR) applies for placing the product on the market in the EU/EFTA (with the exception of Switzerland). The products require a Declaration of Performance taking consideration of the harmonised /EN 15102:2007+A1:2011 Decorative wall coverings - Roll and panel form/, and CE-marking. 2 Use is governed by the respective national regulations. The product features, requirements and test procedures for wallpaper were specified using /EN 233/. 2.2 Application Vinyl wallpaper with non-woven is used for decorative wall design of interior spaces in private or commercial applications. Apart from the design aspect, it also displays practical advantages such as durability, easy processing, low flammability and the ability to bridge minor cracks or plaster joints. 2.3 Technical Data In accordance with /EN 233/, the following technical (structural) data can be declared on delivery*: Constructional data Dimensions by categories /DIN Category 1-3 -

Product in compliance with /CPR/ with hen (CPR = Construction Product Regulation, hen = harmonised European ): The product s performance values correspond with the Declaration of Performance in terms of its essential properties in accordance with /DIN EN 15102/. 2.4 Delivery status The vinyl wallpaper with non-woven analysed are supplied in the following variants: Special sizes are available on request. 2.5 Base materials / Ancillary materials Weighted averages of the product components display the following percentages by mass: 2.6 Manufacture Plastisol production The raw components are weighed and transported to a dissolver via pipelines. In the dissolver, the components are blended to form a homogenous paste. The plastisol from the dissolver can then be used by the colour mixers for dosing and setting a formulation colour which is required for printing wallpaper to be produced. Blending plant The individual formula colours are mixed in an automatic dosing unit and can be used in gravure printing or screen printing, depending on the respective formulation. In the dosing unit, all of the requisite plastisol and/or colour components are measured out and weighed in the specified quantities before being agitated and set ready for printing in a mixing unit. In the case of gravure printing, the plastisol is usually replaced by a blend. Printing machine The colour is applied to the substrate. Each colouring unit in a machine has an interdeck dryer which is responsible for pre-drying the colour. The printed non-woven is then transferred to a heating channel in which the colours are foamed by adding heat. Assembly The wallpaper is trimmed at the edges, cut to length, rolled and cut to size. The finished rolls are sealed in foil with an inlay and packed in boxes. Manufacture is subject to the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act) and a continuous improvement process. All members of the association have a quality department. Furthermore, some members avail of Quality Management certified to /ISO 9001/. 2.7 Environment and health during manufacturing The waste gases incurred during the production process are treated by means of thermal postcombustion. This way, organic waste gas contents in the waste air are thermally oxidised and neutralised from an environmental perspective. Occupational health and safety and environmental management play a key role among association members with the result that some members offer both environmental and energy management certified to the international /ISO 14001/ and /ISO 50001/ s. 2.8 Product processing/installation The following techniques can be applied for vinyl wallpaper with non-woven : The VOC emissions were measured by external test institutes within the context of the product systems and are depicted in section 7.1. Substrate The substrate comprises non-woven fibres whose wood content originates from FSC-certified stocks (FSC; Chain of Custody). Auxiliaries The softeners used are not covered by the /REACH Directive/. 3 Wall adhesive application technique The adhesive is applied evenly to the subsurface using a paint roller, a strip of wallpaper at a time and not too thickly. Adhesive application on the back The adhesive is applied evenly to the back using a wallpapering brush; a pasting machine can also be used for optimal and consistent adhesive application. After application of the adhesive, the length of wallpaper is folded 2/3 at the top and 1/3 at the bottom and rolled up taking care to prevent folds in the wallpaper.

4 Fresh spots of adhesive can be removed with clear water and a clean sponge. Dab residual moisture with a clean cloth. More detailed information on wallpapering and the processing conditions can be found on the product packaging and is also available on the manufacturers websites. 2.9 Packaging The wallpapers are sealed in PE foil and are packed into cardboard boxes which are delivered on pallets Condition of use No maintenance within the framework of typical usage. The wallpapers are washable and colour-fast in accordance with /EN 12956/ Environment and health during use Damaging effects on the environment or health are not anticipated when used as designated. All wallpapers bear the CE mark and comply with both the award criteria for RAL quality assurance /RAL-GZ 479/ and the requirements on harmlessness of wall coverings in terms of health and ecology. Within the framework of designated use, wallpaper does not pose any hazards for water, air or soil Reference service life When installed professionally, the reference service life accounts for 25 years in line with the empirical values available to the association Within the area of fire safety, the following European building material class is adhered to in accordance with /EN /: Best classification: B-s1-d0 Lowest classification: D-s3-d2 Individual certificates can be requested from the respective association manufacturers. Water The products display water resistance to /EN 12956/ for short-term exposure to water. Wallpaper is not resistant to long-term exposure to water. Hazardous environmental effects are not anticipated when exposed to water. Mechanical destruction If extensive sections of wallpaper are damaged, individual lengths can be replaced. There are no risks for man and the Environment Re-use phase Within Europe, wallpaper is subject to either energy recovery or landfilling (insofar as it is disposed of together with building rubble) Disposal In accordance with the European Waste Catalogue to /AVV/, wallpaper is subject to the European Waste Code (mixed building and demolition rubble with the exception of waste covered by , and ) Further information More detailed information on the association and other types of wallpaper as well as information brochures for downloading available at Extraordinary effects Fire 3. LCA: Calculation rules 3.1 Declared The declared unit is one square metre (1 m²) of the weighted average of vinyl wallpaper with non-woven produced. Furthermore, the entire manufacturing phase was depicted, including the treatment of production waste up to End-of-Waste (EoW) status. Transport associated with distribution as well as installation in the building were also taken into consideration. Modules C2-3 The modules include the environmental impacts associated with the treatment of the waste fractions up 4 to End-of-Waste (EoW) status, including transport at the end of the product life cycle. Module D Statement of credits for packaging (A5) and the product at End of Life (EoL) (C3) resulting from waste Treatment. 3.3 Estimates and assumptions There are no key estimates or assumptions which have not been dealt with in other sections under chapter 3 LCA: Calculation rules. 3.4 Cut-off criteria All data from the plant data survey during the period under review indicated in section 3.7 is taken into consideration with the result that material flows with a mass percentage of less than one per cent were also analysed. It can be assumed that the total of all neglected percentage shares does not exceed 5% in the impact categories. 3.5 Background data The /GaBi/ software system was used for modelling the life cycle. All of the background data records of relevance for manufacturing and disposal were taken from various additional GaBi data bases as well as

5 /Ecoinvent/ (version 2.2). The data sets contained in the data bases are documented online. examined for plausibility and consistency. Good data representativeness can be assumed. 3.6 Data quality The background data sets used for the LCA originate from /GaBi/ data bases which were up to date at the time of calculation. In addition, various data sets for upstream products were used from the /Ecoinvent data base 2.2/, some of which are more than 10 years old. As these data sets are most likely associated with higher negative environmental effects than more up-todate data sets would be, they represent a conservative analysis. 3.7 Period under review The LCA data was recorded for the period of The data on the products under review was recorded using analyses of internal production and environmental data, LCA-relevant data within the supplier chain and analyses of relevant data for the provision of energy. The materials can not be recycled as the various components are irreversibly bonded. 7 The product stage (Module A1-A3) and the loads associated with disposal (C3) clearly dominate proportionately. Transport plays a subordinate role. The primary cause of environmental impacts in all impact categories is in Modules A1-A3 and usually in the upstream processes. This concerns in particular the manufacture of PV, colours and softeners. The manufacture of PVC in particular has a relatively high share of Global Warming Potential as well as a relatively major influence on the Acidification Potential (AP), the Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), the Abiotic Depletion Potential of Fossil resources (ADPE) and Fossil fuels (ADPF). Add to this the thermal requirements for drying processes and thermal post-combustion during production. Energy generation with its resource requirements and associated air emissions has an influence on the indicators of GWP, ODP, AP, EP and ADPF. As a substrate, the non-woven has comparably minor effects on the impact categories with the exception of the Eutrification Potential where it accounts for almost half of all effects. This is attributed to the percentage of cellulose in the non-woven. Waste treatment in Module C3 has a particular influence the on Global Warming Potential (GWP) and Acidification Potential (AP) impact categories. Here too, PVC plays a role as a component of the wallpaper. As the wallpapers summarised here largely comprise the same materials, only minor deviations by environmental impacts from the median value can be anticipated in terms of mass. 7. Requisite evidence VOC emissions Members of the German Wallpaper Association bear the following certificates: In accordance with the test chamber test in line with the French measurement method /Arrêté du 19/04/11/, the wallpaper complies with the requirements on the /ISO 16000/ test. The declared products are subject to RAL quality assurance /RAL-GZ 479/ and meet the requirements on harmlessness of wall coverings to health and ecology. The certificates and classifications for the various wallpapers can be requested from the respective manufacturers in the association. 8.
