3 AllWays green The design and development of AllWays was guided by Haworth Sustainable Product Development protocol Sustainable Product Development is a design approach that focuses on achieving zero or negative human and environmental impact through product design and material selection, manufacturing, supply chain and product use. A scorecard is used in parallel to the design process so that compliances are tracked alongside design development. Guided by Haworth Sustainable Product Development protocol, the design team for AllWays set out to achieve the following 7 points: 1 Eliminate toxic, persistent and bioaccumulative materials 2 Select material with highest possible recycled content 3 Select recyclable materials wherever possible 4 Select locally sourced and / or rapidly renewable materials wherever possible 5 Design for durability and ease of change to facilitate reusability 6 Design for easy disassembly and end-of-life management 7 Measure carbon footprint for 125% climate neutral compensation

4 AllWays take responsibility AllWays does not use toxic, persistent and bioaccumulative materials AllWays uses only safe materials and successfully eliminates PVC, PBDE fire retardant, formaldehyde emitting work surfaces and other harmful materials: 1 Work surfaces use ABS edging which are safe to human health instead of potentially harmful PVC edging 2 Work surfaces offer strawboard core which uses formaldehyde free MDI binder 3 Storage tambour door slats are ABS instead of PVC 4 Aluminum parts are offered in polished finish and not chromed, thereby reducing demand for chroming which releases toxic and persistent chemicals AllWays employs materials with highest possible recycled content AllWays has a total recycled content of 46% by weight; 32% pre-consumer and 14% post-consumer, primarily through the abundant use of aluminum parts with average 60% recycled content. AllWays uses only recyclable materials wherever possible 80% by weight of a Haworth new desk is aluminum this material has the highest recycled content and is the most recycled material on earth and easiest to recycle. 1 The entire AllWays desk structure is made from aluminum 2 AllWays seat pads recyclable 100% polyester and wool fabrics 3 AllWays plastic parts are recyclable polypropylene AllWays uses rapidly renewable materials Rapidly renewable straws are collected from rice fields in developing countries and these agricultural by-products which would have otherwise gone to waste are given a second lease of useful life as AllWays work surfaces.

5 AllWays evolving AllWays is designed for change Furniture elements are designed to be durable and possess unique connection capabilities to ensure easy connection and disconnection. This facilitates worksetting reconfiguration or work location change many times over without impairing function or appearance. AllWays is designed for easy disassembly AllWays desks are disassembled and separated in less than 10 minutes for end-of-life management. All parts are labelled and easily identifiable for recycling purpose.

6 AllWays and forever AllWays is manufactured in ISO certified and sustainably managed plants Haworth Shanghai and Pune plants are both ISO certified. Additionally, Pune facility is LEED Silver certified. The entire assembly of AllWays uses renewable energy generated from windmill and solar farms and thereby creates demand for clean, renewable energy that also contributes towards climate neutrality.

7 AllWays plan for the future The sustainability performance of AllWays will be certified by leading environmental organisations AllWays is Greenguard certified and is an extremely low emitting product that substantially contributes to good indoor air quality. GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) has established performance based standards to define goods with low chemical and particle emissions for use indoors, primarily building materials, interior furnishings, furniture, cleaning and maintenance products, electronic equipment, and personal care products. The standard establishes certification procedures including test methods, allowable emissions levels, product sample collection and handling, testing type and frequency, and program application processes and acceptance.
