10 Join as an Individual Professional Member U.S., Canada, and Caribbean residents join The IIA directly. Outside these areas, members join an affiliate. Where affiliate are not available, you can join The IIA as an International Member. Government Member The American Center for Government Auditing (ACGA ) and Canadian Public Sector Audit Center provide professional development, knowledge sharing, and ongoing reporting on trends, benchmarking, and thought leadership for practitioners in the public sector, in addition to The IIA member benefits. Educator Member Available to individuals principally employed as educators at colleges and universities. No processing fee required. Student Member Open to individuals currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program who are engaged in a full-time academic schedule at a college or university. Student membership is limited to a maximum of six years. No processing fee required. Retired Member Available to members who retire from active employment while in good standing with The IIA at the time of their application. Individuals may not join The IIA as new members under this classification. International Member For individuals who live outside the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean and are not serviced by an affiliate. Life Member Members who wish to show a long-term commitment to an internal audit career could benefit from becoming a life member by remitting a one-time fee.
