When a District employee is rehired in PeopleSoft, the employee retains his/her original Employee Identification Number [EmplID]. Additionally, personal and other employment data at the time of separation continues to exist in the system, thus making the rehire process less labor-intensive as the new hire process. Previous District government employees whose data was not converted to PeopleSoft at inception must be processed as a new hire. 3.1 Business Process Overview 1. The HR Specialist coordinates the enter on duty date with the Hiring Manager / HR Advisor and the perspective employee preferably the date will be set at the beginning of a pay period. 2. The HR Specialist prepares and forwards an official job offer letter to the new hire. 28
