1 Specific Instructions: This test is designed to provide information on your typical behaviour within work situations. You will be presented with situations which you could experience at work. Please consider the situation, and then select what you feel is the most AND the least response or action from the four statements. 1. You have received a series of s from a manager in another department who is asking to meet with your manager. Your manager is due to be away visiting another office on the day the other manager is requesting. You know that your manager s visit cannot be moved and your manager is currently unavailable for you to discuss the problem with. Try to arrange for the meeting to take place via conference call while your manager is visiting the other office. Explain to the other manager that you are unable to arrange the meeting on the day requested and offer a number of alternative days in the following week. Suggest that the other manager should contact your manager directly to confirm if the meeting can take place. Wait until your manager is available to check whether the meeting can be arranged next week. 1

You have been set a task by your manager to find out how much money there is left in the training budget for your team. Your manager wants to know if there will be enough funds to send some members of the team on a training course next month. You know that other members of your team have been attending training courses this month and you are not sure whether the invoices have already been processed by the accounts department. If these invoices have been settled there will be enough budget for next month s training. Ask the accounts department to update you whenever invoices are paid in the future. Check with the accounts department if the invoices have been settled so that you can calculate if there is enough budget for the other training courses. Let your manager know how much money is currently left in the training budget. Tell your manager that the accounts department need to confirm the budget as you are unsure whether this month s invoices have been paid. 2

You support a team who offer technical advice to other departments across the organisation. One of your responsibilities is to keep track of the number of technical queries the team deals with. You usually send your manager an update on this each month in a spreadsheet. However, your manager would now like a more detailed breakdown of this information in a report format. This will be a challenge for you as you are not familiar with creating reports of this type and want to ensure you do a good job. Ask your manager for clarification of the report requirements so that you can complete the task ly. Ask your manager if there is a template you can follow to create the report. Complete a draft of the report and send it to your manager to check that it meets the required standard. Let your manager know you are unsure how to complete the task but you will try to write the report as best you can. 3

Your manager has asked you to work with two of your colleagues on formatting a large number of documents. When you start working together you notice that the way your colleagues approach the task is different to the way you usually format documents. You use a standard template to format documents of this type but your colleagues seem to work on each document individually. You are concerned that the format will not be consistent across the work you have to complete together. Discuss the benefits of the templates with your colleagues and recommend that you all complete the task using these to ensure consistency. Suggest to your colleagues that standard templates should be used when formatting documents in the future. Send your colleagues the template you will be using so that they can decide whether to follow this method as well. Allow your colleagues to complete the task in the way that is most familiar to them so that it can be completed quickly. 4

You are responsible for helping your team record the time they spend on various projects using a timesheet. Each month you use this information to summarise what the team has completed for your manager. You have realised that some members of the team have not been recording their time on a weekly basis. It is nearly the end of the month and it is important that the timesheets are completed for you to summarise. However, these team members have told you that they are too busy finishing other tasks before the end of the month to complete their timesheets. Discuss the importance of the timesheets with these team members and see if you can do anything to help them meet this month s deadline. Ask the team if there is anything you can do to help them complete their timesheets more quickly in the future. Let your manager know that your summary may be a bit late this month as some team members have not completed their timesheets. Suggest to all team members that they set reminders for themselves to complete their timesheets each week. 5
