1 EXPLAINING THE NEW WAGE RATES 16 July, 2012 Introduction: Wage rates payable by operators after the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2012 will change. This Information below explains these changes. 1. OPERATORS WITH TfNSW CONTRACT AND AN ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT THAT DO NOT HAVE RATES AGREED BEYOND 30/6/12 These rates are yet to be settled. Please await further advice from BusNSW. Continue to use the July 2011 rates until advised otherwise. 2. OPERATORS WITH REGISTERED ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT THAT DO NOT HAVE RATES AGREED BEYOND 30/6/12 These rates are yet to be settled. Please await further advice from BusNSW. Continue to use the July 2011 rates until advised otherwise. 3. BUS OPERATORS WITHOUT TfNSW CONTRACT OR ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT Bus operators without a TfNSW contract would be subject to the changes to the Passenger Vehicle Transport Award (PVTA) which incorporate: The 2.9% rise in the national minimum wage recently determined by the Minimum Wage Panel of Fair Work Australia; The third year s transition to the PVTA Refer to the attached Wage Rates pages from the Bulletin. Note that the Fair Work Act provides that existing workers should not be disadvantaged by the introduction of a modern award. This means that if the new rates result in a decrease in wage rates for existing workers, these workers should continue to be paid at the pre-july rates. However, new workers employed on or after 1 July 2012 would be paid the transitional rates outlined in the Bulletin 4. COACH OPERATORS WITHOUT AN ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT THAT CATERS FOR INCREASES BEYOND 30/6/12 Coach operators without an Enterprise Agreement would be subject to the changes to the PVTA which incorporate: 1
