2 PREFACE The purpose of this document is to communicate to current and potential suppliers the Global Supplier Quality System Requirements for Self-Certification. Purchased materials/components constitute a major proportion of the products manufactured, and, consequently, the quality of these materials/components and all aspects of the supply thereof is of utmost importance to the overall quality of our products and customer service. We shall have the assurance that suppliers have comparable business philosophies, effective operating quality systems, and exceptional performance in quality, delivery, design and service to assure that we exceed our customers expectations. AB Electrolux shall therefore be careful in selecting suppliers, using only those that can demonstrate the full commitment and ability to comply with the requirements of this document and to support this through the quality of products and services provided. This common Certification process shall be used to evaluate the effectiveness of Suppliers globally. 4 General Information Once a supplier has reached and maintained the Q Preferred status within the GSQA system. For a period of not less than 6 months, generally a year, AB Electrolux considers it time to enter into a "Partnership" with the supplier. This partnership takes the form of a "Declaration of Conformity", whereby the supplier declares that they will attain the operative and reference targets for the products produced, as laid out in our bi-annual review of such. By signing such a "Declaration" the supplier undertakes to continue to operate in the manner already proven within the GSQA system up to this point, without AB Electrolux continually assessing the supplier. This does not negate the need for QA Plans for all parts, changes to parts, or changed processes and location of such, nor does it negate the Ongoing Evaluation of the products received. The expectation is rather that the QA Plans will be automatic, without pressure from us, and that the quality of the parts will be so good as to negate our need for Incoming Inspection of any sort. If an Electrolux PD enters into a Declaration of Conformity with any Supplier then that Declaration of Conformity is applicable for all AB Electrolux PD's. However if at any time the suppliers status falls below Preferred with any AB Electrolux PD then the Declaration of Conformity will require to be reviewed. Therefore, as from, all components supplied by your Company will be utilised without further quality checks. The fundamental aspect on which our common objectives are based is that your Company s activities became an INTEGRAL PART of the overall production process of the finished product. 7 (2 b & c) 2. CONDITION AND PROCEDURES FOR COMPONENTS SUPPLIED TO AB ELECTROLUX The Supplier shall define and apply a CONTROL PLAN for all products supplied to AB Electrolux. This plan shall include every phase, from control of the raw materials, process control, final control, packaging, etc. The Supplier shall retain and file the documentation describing the results of the various controls, and make such documentation available to our Quality Inspectors on demand. All the control data must be traceable and correlated according to correct procedural logic. The Supplier must objectively attest the conformity of the products and/ or components by means of: - a declaration of conformity of the product as specified in enclosed "a". The Supplier will sign the document at the date of formal agreement and it will be updated only for changes of commodity categories range presence. The above declaration will be valid for all following supplies and will be made void only in the case the agreed requirements should not be met. Therefore, each single delivery will not require the declaration of conformity sheet to be attached. - a release of quality in the form of a label to be attached to each packages or box (see enclosed facsimile "b"). - If the labels used are compiled automatically (e.g. "ODETTE"), the release of quality must be as shown in facsimile "c". The word " CHECKED " or "AQP" (Quality Assured Part), which must be printed on the label, must be completed by an alphanumeric reference number based on a PASSWORD which identified the person performing the inspection, who is thus responsible for release of quality If any of the quality requisites should not be met, the inspector, whose function within the company must be performed according to a pre-defined QUALITY PLAN, must enter the words "NON-CONFORMING" in the CHECKED or AQP box on the label. Even if standard rules apply, the final characteristic of the packing, dimensions included, has to be discussed and agreed by the supplier with each AB Electrolux factory which the goods are sent to. 8 (2 b & c contd.) 3. CONTROVERSIES A claim will be made against the Supplier if the percentage of defects found in the assembly phase exceeds the AOQL corresponding to the reference AQL. In case where it is not possible to identify the batch, reference will be made to the date of manufacture of the component. A defect which occurs as a result of the same fault with a frequency equivalent to twice the AOQL corresponding to the AQL is considered to be an epidemic defect. This definition shall be applicable to controversies arising from the presence of high defect rates on the finished product, and will be applied after assessment with the Supplier of defect and in compliance with the terms described in the AB Electrolux procedure EL REFERENCE TO AB ELECTROLUX PROCEDURES Reports and communications between the companies concerning the application of these procedures shall follow the criteria described in the procedures already in your possession (EL 29000, EL 29001, EL 29002P, EL 29002A, EL 29003, EL29005, EL29005A, EL29006 and EL3000).
