1 Nalgene, MF75 Series of Filter Units and Bottle Top Filters The MF75 series of filter units (except 115ml) are designed with an easy to use shape, with tapered sides and grip dimples for secure handling and a wide base for stability. The lot number, membrane type, pore size and expiration date are printed on filter units, bottle tops and receivers for easy identification and lot traceability. The housing is manufactured from polystyrene, with a choice of membrane types and pore sizes. The 115ml filter units have low profile polystyrene housing and a wide base, providing the ideal unit for small volume benchtop filtration. The units have colour coded filter collars for instant identification of the membrane type. Every lot is certified sterile, non-pyrogenic and non-cytotoxic. 2 Nalgene, MF75 Series SFCA Membrane Filter Units and Bottle Top Filters Surfactant-free cellulose acetate (SFCA) is much cleaner than standard cellulose acetate. It is low protein binding with no wetting agents and excellent flow rates. It minimises clogging and prevents loss of specific proteins. Colour coded yellow and are designed for the filtration of large volumes (over 200ml) of whole serum. The large membrane surface provides excellent flow rates when filtering up to 500ml of whole fetal bovine serum or a lesser volume of other sera and media-plus filter units allow easy vacuum filtration of up to 1L of media with 20% serum. The graduated bottle top filters are designed for direct filtration into sterile glass media bottles, screwing securely onto media bottles with 33 or 45mm necks. Only sterile bottles designed for use with vacuum should be used. They have side-arms with quick-disconnect tubing adaptors. 3 Nalgene, MF75 Series PES Membrane Filter Units and Bottle Top Filters Polyethersulfone (PES) is the ultimate cell and tissue culture media membrane, with low protein binding, low extractables, no external wetting agents and a fast flow. These are ideal for biological and pharmaceutical sterilisation requirements. The 0.2µm filters are fitted with the new Supor machv membranes. These are super clean membranes that provide even faster throughput and very low protein binding. Colour coded blue. 4 Nalgene, Analytical Filter Units Precise, easy to use systems for the recovery and growth of micro-organisms in research and industry. The disposable, preassembled, presterilised filter units have polypropylene uppers and polystyrene lowers. They have triton-free CN (cellulose nitrate) membranes, which provide superior recovery and growth of microorganisms. Uppers and lowers twist apart for easy removal of the membrane for culturing. The wide base is stable on the bench and the non-silicone gasket minimises the risk of contamination. 5 Nalgene, Water Quality Membrane This cellulose nitrate (CN) membrane is certified to meet the requirements of standard methods for water quality work. It contains no extractables that will inhibit or stimulate the growth of bacteria and has no significant effect on the ph of the medium. The sterilisation technique causes no toxicity, chemical or physical changes. The membranes are individually wrapped, sterile and autoclavable.
