6 1 User notes 1.2 Warranty provisions 1.2 Warranty provisions Within the framework of applicable KaVo delivery and payment conditions, KaVo guarantees proper function, freedom from flaws in material and manufacturing for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase demonstrated by the purchaser. In case of justified complaints, KaVo will honor its warranty with a free replacement or repair. The warranty does not cover defects and their consequences that arose or may have arisen due to natural wear, improper handling, cleaning or maintenance, noncompliance with operating, maintenance or connection instructions, corrosion, contaminated media supply or chemical or electrical influences deemed abnormal or impermissible in accordance with factory specifications. The warranty does not usually cover lamps, light conductors made of glass and glass fibers, glassware, rubber parts and the colourfastness of plastic parts. The warranty expires when defects or their consequences can arise from manipulations or changes to the product. Warranty claims can only be asserted when they are immediately reported to KaVo in writing. This notification must be accompanied by a copy of the invoice or delivery note on which the manufacturing number is clearly visible. In addition to the guaranty, the statutory warranty claims of the purchaser also apply with a warranty period of 12 months. The warranty expires when other software is installed on the system besides that provided by KaVo. When the product is integrated into an existing network, the responsibility for functionality and safety lies with the network operator. 4/30

For more information about disposal and recycling, and an up-to-date list of local disposal service providers and recycling companies, please visit the following Internet sites: KaVo will bring KaVo transport packaging returned by the customer at the customer's own cost to the appropriate recycling companies without reimbursement Transportation damage In Germany If external damage to the packaging is visible upon delivery, follow the procedure below: 1. The recipient must record the loss or damage in the notice of delivery. The recipient and employee of the transportation firm must sign the notice of delivery. 2. Leave the product and packaging unchanged. 3. Do not use the product. 4. Report damage to the shipping company. 5. Report damage to KaVo. 6. A damaged product cannot be returned before talking with KaVo. 7. Send the signed notice of delivery to KaVo. If the product is damaged and there is no discernable damage to the packaging upon delivery, proceed as follows: 1. Report damage immediately or at least 7 days after the delivery to the delivery company.. 2. Report damage to KaVo. 3. Leave the product and packaging unchanged. 4. Do not use a damaged product. The recipient and employee of the transportation firm must sign the notice of delivery. The recipient can only assert damages against the transportation company based on these records. 2. Leave the product and packaging unchanged. 3. Do not use the product. If the product is damaged and there is no discernable damage to the packaging upon delivery, proceed as follows: 1. Report the damage immediately or at least 7 days after the delivery to the delivery company. 2. Leave the product and packaging unchanged. 3. Do not use a damaged product. Anyone with implanted systems must maintain a safe distance of 5 meters away from this product. CAUTION Malfunctions from electromagnetic fields. The product meets the applicable requirements regarding electromagnetic fields. Given the complex interactions between equipment and cell phones, the product may be influenced by a cell phone that is in use. Do not use cell phones in medical offices, hospitals, or laboratories. Turn off electronic devices such as computer storage media, hearing aids, etc. during operation. CAUTION Premature weary and malfunctions from improper servicing and care. Reduced production time. Observe the applicable national regulations. Please direct all questions regarding the proper disposal of KaVo products to the nearest KaVo branch. Use according to the product's "intended purpose" also includes consulting all information within the user instructions, and complying with all inspection and maintenance activities. During use, national legal regulations must be observed, in particular: the applicable health and safety regulations. the applicable accident prevention regulations. It is not intended for any other purpose or wider application. An additional Everest Design Sherpa is for supporting the existing scanner in the construction and administration of large orders. Parallel scanning and design means an order can be scanned without any wait while another is simultaneously designed and fabricated. This additional PC is integrated into the existing Everest system and can optionally be installed in any system. Any other or more extensive use of the construction PC is not in accordance with specifications. When the product is integrated into an existing network, the responsibility for functionality and safety lies with the network operator. Software and settings CAUTION Impairment of operation from additional programs Additionally installed software can impair the operation of the system. Do not install any additional software on the computer. 11/30

The exceptions to this rule are the date, time, time zone and country settings. Any data processing equipment that you wish to connect to KaVo Everest Scan (such as PCs) must be compliant with the following standards: DIN/EN/IEC 60950, UL and CAN/CSA-C22.2 NO /30

20 3 Product description 3.3 How it works 3.3 How it works The measuring method of the KaVo Everest scan is based on a 3-D measurement with fringe projection. The projection method is based on the mathematical principle of triangulation. To measure distances, the coded light projector, the camera and the object to be measured form the corners of the triangulation triangle. The camera in a specific position takes a picture of the object illuminated by the coded light projector and evaluates the distortions of the original symmetrical light strips so that a three-dimensional image coordinate can be calculated for each image point based on triangulation. By turning and tipping the object, each relevant point can be precisely recorded including overlapping locations. Up to 13 different projection patterns are used in different positions. The strip width of the light pattern becomes sequentially smaller until extremely fine strip patterns are moved in steps within a strip width. The phase length for reach pixel is determined from the recorded intensities. A measuring precision of 20 µm is achieved using the phase shift method. The object surface has to be reflected diffusely so that the projected strip patterns can be detected by the camera with sufficient contrast. 18/30

Take the utmost care and attention during unpacking and installation. 4.1 Location Note To prevent overheating of the PC, ensure that there is sufficient rear ventilation. Ensure that the location of the KaVo Everest scan is free of vibrations, direct sunlight and dust contamination. Place the scanner and monitor next to each other on a working surface. Place the PC, for example, in a base cabinet underneath. 20/30

24 4 Commissioning 4.2 Connection EDP network connection If you want to connect a single KaVo Everest Scan without network connection up to a KaVo Everest engine, attach an RJ 45 (cross-over) network cable to the NET port at the rear of the PC. If there is a network, connect up the PC with network cables as per usual. Optional connection to Everest Design Sherpa When an Everest Design Sherpa is used, it centrally manages all orders and master data. The scan PC only sends the scan data to the Everest Design Sherpa to enable simultaneously scanning and construction. Do not adjust or rotate the aperture lenses of the camera or projector Regular actions Weekly Wipe off the outer housing and door with a dry, lint-free cloth, and remove any soiling with a moist cloth. Vacuum out the interior of the scanner with a small vacuum cleaner. Do not used compressed air or touch the lenses. Monthly Lightly oil the thread of the clamping piece (with a drop of turbine oil for instance). Lightly lubricate joints on the door mechanism with turbine oil Readjusting the KaVo Everest scan pro CAUTION Faulty measurement from lack of adjustment The scanning results may be negatively influenced if readjustment is not performed properly. Readjustment is only necessary if the picture of the scanned object is incoherent when the surface module is started. The scanner must warm up for six minutes before readjusting to reach the operating temperature. For this reason, do not readjust at the start of daily work. Start warm-up. 25/30

28 6 Maintenance 6.1 Cleaning and care In the Options menu of the job window, choose Readjust scanner. The message Insert re-adjustment body centred appears. Note The re-adjustment may only be carried out with the readjustment body of the scanner being used (identified by scanner serial number - OD number must match)! Insert the readjusting tool just like the rotary table insert into the scanner. Choose OK. The window Readjustment recording opens. The readjustment is performed automatically. A progress bar shows the progress of the ongoing readjustment process. 26/30
