THE PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES The term green line is used to refer to the 1949 armistice line established between Israel and its neighboring countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria) after the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. Since the 1993 Declaration of Principles, which resulted from the Oslo peace process, there have been several handovers of land to differing degrees of Palestinian civil and security control. The designations employed and the preparation of materials on this map do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or its authorities or concerning the delimitation of its authorities or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
