Instead, all of our products and installations are designed and manufactured to suit your individual requirements - there is no need for you to compromise. We undertake to take a consultancy approach to the design and installation of your furnishing requirements. The purpose of this brochure is only to give you a starting point for your ideas, and a flavour of what our clients have required in the past: we have no such thing as a 'standard range'. 5 HOW WE WORK We operate in various commercial situations, which include:! acting as lead contractor, taking care of all trades such as ceilings, floors, wall finishings, building work, plumbing and electrical, etc.! acting as a subcontractor, or in a partnering arrangement! on a supply only basis! on a supply and export basis! a combination of the above In all of these scenarios, an experienced in-house Project Manager is assigned to each project undertaken. He or she will have an active hands-on role, liaising with the customer and ensuring that the project is completed on time and to the right quality. The stages of a typical project are: Design Please remember at all times that you are not restricted to what you see on these pages; we will advise and guide you through the process of design, starting with face to face consultations and the production of design details on CAD systems. We will consider the ergonomic and safety considerations of your requirements in order to produce a workable design that meets with your available budget. Manufacture Once we have established a design, your furniture will be manufactured in a state of the art factory equipped with the latest computer-controlled machinery. This means that customising your design isn't expensive and doesn't delay delivery - components can be changed in minutes and then downloaded straight to the factory floor. Delivery Where we are installers we endeavour to deliver in loads that can be handled directly to the point of installation. This avoids multiple handling, where damage may occur and is far more preferable than large loads being delivered before they are required. Where we export, the goods can be collected at our factory, delivered to a collection point, supplied free on board or shipped to the point of installation, as required. Installation We have a 'hands on' approach to installation, using skilled operatives, capable of working alongside other trades in the fit out. Where we export, we are able to provide experienced Supervisors to oversee installation overseas and can supply the necessary labour. Health and Safety are high on our agenda. This includes ensuring that the work areas are left clean and tidy on completion. We are registered on the Contractors Health and Safety Scheme (CHAS). 2

For extra heavy duty, the worktops can be supported on welded steel frames, with the option of integrating the storage units. Fixed cantilevered system The correct choice, for situations where flexibility below the bench top is required. These can be floor mounted pull out, mobile on castors, or suspended above the floor. Mobile benching Ideal where complete flexibility is required. The benches can 'dock' to service points with flexible connections. Some services (eg gas/water tanks) can even be contained within the bench itself. For the ultimate in flexibility, we can even supply a mobile demonstration bench like the one displayed opposite. This completely self-contained unit can be used to supplement fixed benching or as an off-site resource (eg for trade shows and demonstrations). It provides running water, waste disposal and a gas burner. Worktops We offer a wide range of different worktops designed to suit your requirement:! Trespa solid laminate - for chemical resistance, hardness and a flat, even finish. We offer a manufacture and supply of Trespa worktops.! Solid surface for a seam-free and repairable finish! Epoxy resin - for even greater chemical resistance! Laminated particleboard with upvc edging - giving the option of an increased range of colours and finishes! Post-formed laminated particleboard - ensuring quick availability and economy 3

WORKSPACE SOLUTIONS Storage units These include cupboards, drawer units, pull out tray units, sink units, bin units, plan chests and tall units.

Carcase front edges take the most wear and we apply impact resistant 2mm thick upvc edging strips to all of our carcase fronts.

Melamine faced boards, laminates and upvc edging strips are available in a wide variety of colours.

Services We provide a wide range of sinks, water and gas outlets, electrical outlets and local exhaust ventilation. Sinks are available in:! stainless steel - for standard use!

With under-mounted sinks drainer grooves can be routered into Trespa and solid surface worktops. Epoxy resin and polypropylene drip cups act as sinks but take up much less space.

7 WORKSPACE SOLUTIONS Storage units These include cupboards, drawer units, pull out tray units, sink units, bin units, plan chests and tall units. Carcases are made from sturdy 18mm thick board with a durable melamine finish. Carcase front edges take the most wear and we apply impact resistant 2mm thick upvc edging strips to all of our carcase fronts. Doors and Drawer Fronts These are available to match the carcases or to have a laminated finish. The edges are finished in 2 or 3mm thick upvc. These can be provided to lock if required. Melamine faced boards, laminates and upvc edging strips are available in a wide variety of colours. Where exposure to water or extreme hard wear is an issue we can fabricate storage units, or just the doors and drawer fronts from Trespa solid laminate. Services We provide a wide range of sinks, water and gas outlets, electrical outlets and local exhaust ventilation. Sinks are available in:! stainless steel - for standard use! fireclay, solid epoxy resin and polypropylene - for superior chemical resistance Sinks can be drop-on, inset or mounted under a neat cut out in the worktop. With under-mounted sinks drainer grooves can be routered into Trespa and solid surface worktops. Epoxy resin and polypropylene drip cups act as sinks but take up much less space. Water and gas outlets suit a variety of applications and are sourced from industry leading manufacturers. Electrical and data outletscan either be in trunking to provide flexibility, or in powder-coated steel boxes, mounted on the bench tops. Local exhaust ventilation removes noxious fumes from workstations, including cross-flow, down-draught, or via flexible 'sniffer' arms. Service Booms - where worktop area is restricted, incoming piped and electrical services can be suspended above the worktop within a service boom. A chemically resistant removable lid acts as a useful shelf. Standard or chemical resistant shelving can be wall-mounted on robust powder-coated uprights and brackets. The shelves can easily be removed, relocated and added to. 4

EDUCATIONAL TEACHING WALLS Teaching Walls, also referred to as Teacher Walls, Media Walls, Learning walls, etc are increasingly popular in modern classrooms.

Traditional items like storage units and sliding whiteboards sit alongside media tools such as interactive whiteboards and projectors screens.

Other items like pull out worktops for the teacher to use and fume cupboards can be incorporated the possibilities are endless.

8 EDUCATIONAL TEACHING WALLS Teaching Walls, also referred to as Teacher Walls, Media Walls, Learning walls, etc are increasingly popular in modern classrooms. Their purpose is to integrate teaching resources in a coordinated way that allows them to fit against one wall. Traditional items like storage units and sliding whiteboards sit alongside media tools such as interactive whiteboards and projectors screens. Storage units can be simple cupboards, shelf units and drawer units to laptop storage/charging units or tray units. Other items like pull out worktops for the teacher to use and fume cupboards can be incorporated the possibilities are endless. Industrial fume cupboards for walk-in, hydrochloric, perchloric and radio chemical processes are all designed and built to meet the requirements of BS EN 14175'. Using a range of material and finishes to suit your needs, we can design and provide a solution for fixed and mobile book storage, display and computer stations, as well as the design and construction of issuing and administration desks, carousels, etc. to perfectly fit your available workspace. ICT workspaces range from a small area incorporated into a library space up to a complete dedicated facility. Electrical and data outlets can be positioned to suit individual requirements. 11 WASHROOMS We offer a variety of solutions for washrooms, including WC cubicles, IPS systems and vanity units. WC Cubicles Our cubicles are made to fit the space available. We offer a choice of panels:! Trespa solid laminate, for a hard, flat and decorative finish! Laminated particleboard with robust upvc edging, giving the option of an increased range of colours and finishes! Melamine faced particleboard with robust upvc edging, for economy Our cubicle hardware is constructed from aluminium, in a stylish finish, which can be powder coated to any commercially available colour. IPS - integrated plumbed systems These are used to cloak services on walls and behind WC's, urinals and hand washbasins. The construction comprises a combination of fixed and removable decorative panels, secured to a timber, or metal sub-frame. The panels can be supplied plain, or pre-plumbed with sanitary ware. Panels can be secured with clips or security screws, depending on the risk of exposure to vandalism. The same range of panels is available as IPS systems as above. Vanity Units We offer these either floor mounted or cantilevered from the wall. The tops are available in:! Trespa solid laminate, for a clinical, impervious hard, flat and decorative finish! Solid surface, such as 'Corian' for a superior warm, seam free and repairable finish! Solid Stone, for that luxurious touch! Post-formed laminated particleboard for style and economy Most of these can be formed to an upstand, at the rear and down at the front to form a fascia. Holes can be pre-formed for washbasins and taps. Storage or service space is available below the worktop. Fixed and removable access panels or doors are available, as for our IPS systems detailed above. We also provide ancillaries, such as mirrors, lighting and power points and can carry out the electrical installation work, if required. 8

CASE STUDY: YORK UNIVERSITY Biology Teaching Laboratories for the University of York The contract was published in the European Journal, which Synergic secured by competitive tender.

12 CASE STUDY: YORK UNIVERSITY Biology Teaching Laboratories for the University of York The contract was published in the European Journal, which Synergic secured by competitive tender. The Brief To furnish several large laboratories, cloning furniture that had previously been installed at the university. We successfully undertook the design, manufacture and installation of fixed benching, service outlets, isolated storage units, shelving and local plumbing connections to the complete satisfaction of the university. What the Client Said This project has been funded under HEFCE Capital Formula 3, and is part of an ongoing 0.5m refurbishment programme, explains Mike Bristow, York University's Project Manager. The size of the project required that the tender be advertised Europe-wide. When Synergic secured the contract we were a little nervous, having not used them before. To our delight they undertook the work very professionally and competently and to programme. We were particularly pleased with their ability to tailor their furniture to match exactly what we already had, satisfying our requirements perfectly. 13 CASE STUDY: HULL COLLEGE Learning Zone for Hull College The Learning Zone was constructed within the new Kingston Stadium building in Hull. Having already undertaken the fitting out of furniture in various areas of the complex, we were approached by the Project Managers, Drivers Jonas, to design and install library and ICT furniture for Hull College. The design was produced in conjunction with the Learning Zone's Head of School, Mick Cox. What the Client Said We knew that the Kingston Stadium would attract many young people from Hull and beyond and decided to create The Learning Zone there, as a one-stop-shop to promote lifelong learning, providing both students and the public a place to take classes, study, and have access to the internet. The building was ready late in December and we wanted the Learning Zone to be fully functional by the first week in the New Year. Synergic pulled out all the stops, working through the Christmas break to achieve our target. I was impressed at Synergic's ability to take our brief on board and meet such an impossible deadline. 14 CASE STUDY QC lab for British Pepper and Spice, Northampton We worked with British Pepper and Spice's Technical Director, John Hill and the laboratory staff, to create a functional design that would meet the needs of a rapidly growing business. Intended as a 'show piece' facility to underwrite the company's well respected technical credentials we created an open plan layout, dispensing with the existing partitioned rooms and creating a more modern and efficient facility. The final design embodied a number of unique features, including bins accessible through the worktop and specialist sieve racks. From this......to this. Employed on a 'turnkey' basis we carried out all trades including strip out, plastering, decoration, floors, ceiling, lighting, partitions, laboratory and office furniture, fume cupboards and extraction, plumbing and electrical works. Access restrictions required a window to be removed and materials brought in using a scissor lift. What the Client Said David and his team were excellent at all stages in the process from design to strip out, refurbishment and finally installation. The project was delivered on time and on budget, both of which were key success requirements in a busy operational and commercial environment. Most importantly, six years on and despite heavy daily use, the facility looks as good as the day we commissioned it.
