Residential Elevators Safe Reliable Affordable Convenient J.T. Lawrence & Company
Introduction Thank you for your interest our product. Our elevators are custom manufactured to meet your specifications and needs. We manufacture both affordable and high-end residential elevators. The lifting capacity of this elevator can either be 750 lbs. or 950 lbs. You can be proud of the fact that you will join countless others who have turned to JT Lawrence & Co. for the ideal solution to their accessibility problems. As you will soon discover, your elevator will be easy to operate and has been designed for years of dependable and trouble-free operation. But remember... If you do require service, only an authorized JT Lawrence & Co. dealer has the factory trained technicians with the required tools and replacement parts needed to properly repair your elevator. They are committed to providing quality and excellent service for you. Whether you desire a valuable asset your home or the necessity to enable you to have access to all floors of your home; we can help. Our elevators are roped hydraulic, which ensures a smooth and quiet ride. And unlike other manufactures who build all types of elevators, our focus is only residential elevators. What this means to you is our facility is designed around building just your elevator. And our dedication is to continue to improve on existing practices and techniques, constantly making a better elevator for you and others in the future. So, before you build, call us. Preparing ahead will save you time and money with your new elevator. Contact us to better understand what is required before you build. We also have a wide range of details and information which can be relayed to the architect working on your plans. Look to us for your future, include our elevator into your plans. You don t have to shut off the upper rooms to your house during those golden years. Not only will you be able to access those rooms again, but our elevator will increase the value of your home and the quality of your life. Even if you have an existing home, an elevator can still fit into your plan. All of our distributors are licensed elevator contractors and have a minimum of 5 years experience installing elevators. Each elevator is custom designed and built to meet your needs. As well as conforming to and exceeding ANSI / ASME A and A Elevator and Escalators safety codes. Requirements Our residential elevator has the capacity to fit into a limited space. If you have approximately 20 square feet our elevator will meet your minimal requirements. We custom build every elevator to your specifications and space limitations. An 8 recessed pit is required for all elevators to insure proper running clearances. With a standard cab height of 6-8 you will only need an overhead (distance from the top floor to the ceiling) of 8-0. This space increases as the cab height increases. The general contractor on the job will need to provide two circuits for the elevator to the machine room. One 220 Volt circuit for the elevator and one 110 volt circuit for the car lighting. Horizontal or vertical supports in one wall will be required to withstand the weight of the elevator. Your elevator contractor will have all specifications for the location of these supports. Our standard production lead times are between six and eight weeks from the time our facility receives final information from the elevator contractor verifying the conditions and sizes available for your elevator.
These cabs are constructed from 3/4 thick real wood veneer plywood. We do not utilize particle board in any of our products.
Our Series 2000 cabs solid hardwood 7/8 thick. They are constructed with true raised panels. Each elevator is customized to your specifications.
These cabs have a durable white vinyl coating to aid in the durability of this cab. The raised panels have been routed into the walls to give the look of commercial grade cabinetry.
Our glass back cabs have all the same specifications as the Series 2000 cabs plus a window integrated into the wall panel.
This cab has the antique look and feel. We ve incorporated beaded board into the interior of the elevator. This cab series can be painted to meet your needs.
Series 6000 cabs have the same beaded board walls as the Series 5000 but can be stained to specifications.
Wood Finishes: The basic building blocks of our elevator cabs are select hardwoods and veneers. The unique beauty and elegance of hardwood is expressed in the character of each unique piece of hardwood as it is finished into a fine cabinetry like look. Just as no two trees are alike, no two pieces of wood are alike. This natural occurrence can result in the beautiful variations in grain and color throughout your elevator. Color variations are more pronounced in the lighter stain colors. After hardwoods are finished they are affected by exposure to sunlight and other types of light. This slow change, called "mellowing", is always occurring so that in a year's time, a significant difference in the color has occurred. New elevator cabs will never be the same color after time as originally shipped. Series 1000, 2000 & Wood Species Available Birch is not available on Series 2000 and Series 4000 cabs. Alder is not available on Series 1000 cabs. 14 Standard Sizes Vertical Dimensions and Electrical Requirements Notes: OH or Overhead is measured from the floor of the top landing to the underside of the ceiling inside the elevator shaft. TT or Total Travel is measured from the floor of the bottom landing to the floor of the top landing. The machine room should have a minimum of 7-0 ceiling height and be equipped with a minimum 2-6 access door. (by G.C.) A light switch with adequate lighting and a GFI outlet should also be located in the machine room. (by G.C.) Electrical & Phone Requirements Each elevator requires one (1) 220VAC 30 amp fused disconnect for the elevators main power. The power on the 220V line MUST be a 10-3 wire with a ground and insure that there is a dedicated neutral to the elevator unit. (by G.C.) Each elevator will also require one (1) 120VAC 15 amp fused disconnect or circuit breaker for the cab lighting. (by G.C.) A standard telephone line must also be pulled to the elevator machine room with approximately ten feet extra length inside the machine room. (by G.C.)
Elevator Terminology Battery Backup - This comes on in the event of a power failure and allows the elevator to go down. This also initiates the emergency light inside the car. C.O.P. - The Car Operating Panel or C.O.P. is the panel located inside the elevator that has the buttons, key switch, emergency light and stop switch. Car or Cab - Refers to the part of the elevator you ride in. Controller - The brain of the elevator. Typically located in a machine room, this piece of equipment has all the control circuits for running the elevator. Gate - The gate is the accordion door located on the elevator itself. This door prevents people or objects from coming into contact with objects outside the elevator when traveling. Hall Station - This is the panel located just outside the elevator used to call the elevator to that floor. Hoistway - The enclosed space inside the house where the elevator travels. Also called a shaft. Hoistway Door - The swing door used to get into the elevator. Also called the hall door. Interlock - Also called the door lock, is an electro-mechanical interlock which prevents the swing door from opening when the elevator is not at that floor. Jack - This is the hydraulic equipment used to lift and lower the elevator in conjunction with the cables. Overhead - The distance from the floor of the top landing to the ceiling inside the hoistway. Pit - The recessed area below the bottom floor which allows enough clearance for the elevator supporting equipment and the elevator floor to be level with the bottom floor. Rail - The steel section inside the elevator hoistway that guide the elevator when traveling up and down. Sheave - This sets on top of the jack and is basically a pulley. Sling - This is the section that holds the elevator cab and is attached to the rails. This section moves up and down with the elevator. Travel - Also referred to as total travel. This is the dimension from the floor of the bottom landing to the floor of the top landing.
