3 LAMIGAMID LAMINEX OPTAMID Three raw materials with superior material properties The high performance plastic range Lamigamid provides grades exhibiting excellent load bearing abilities. The combination of low weight, high rigidity and sustainable dimensional stability has been enhanced in the design of our new slide shoe for elevator applications. This unique development ensures a long service life and optimum running properties. To complement the high performance material Lamigamid, Schwartz developed, Laminex. This material is suitable for applications were even heavier load carrying capabilities are required with the additional benefits of being ultra rigid, highly flame resistant and very stable dimensionally, it meets the highest requirements for elevator systems and a wide range of other applications. Optamid, is the first choice for applications such as deflection rollers, and elevator componants. The requirement for a material with the ability to offer resilience, quiet running and toughness is perfectly matched by this material. Optamid components are the first choice for elevator manufacturers where they have been successfully used for over 25 years. Applications such as rollers to assist in reducing travelling noise, and extend cable life, Schwartz recently became the first manufacturer to receive the highly coveted USA Certificate of Conformance ASME A17.7/CSA B44.7. 4 Safety and quality are the watchwords Deflection rollers More than half of all the elevators manufactured in the world are cable elevators. In addition to the traction sheave, these systems use deflection rollers in various sizes, designs and quantities. Schwartz has been manufacturing high-performance cast polyamide deflection rollers for use in crane construction for over thirty years. Twenty five years ago we added deflection rollers made from our cast polyamide grade OPTAMID to our portfolio. They have become increasingly popular over the past ten years. As OPTAMID deflection rollers are used directly in conveying passengers, our watchword has always been safety first. We worked closely with official authorities, institutes and the TÜV to develop deflection rollers that meet these very high technical requirements, ensuring they can be safely used without any restrictions from the TÜV or local authorities. Most recently, our products also received the USA certificate Schwartz components are now the only plastic products that may be used, without restriction, in USA elevators. OPTAMID deflection rollers have been in use in many elevators all over the world for several years now, which confirms that they are far superior to the traditional grey cast iron rollers. OPTAMID deflection rollers offer a number of significant advantages: OPTAMID has a very low specific weight of just 1.15 g/cm³, which makes them much lighter than grey cast iron rollers. The lower weight also makes them much easier to store and

5 install, especially when changing rollers in existing systems. Because they are also significantly lighter, OPTAMID deflection rollers have a lower centrifugal mass, and the mass of the counterweight is reduced. Irritating running noises are greatly reduced by the use of OPTAMID deflection rollers. Thanks to the lower module of elasticity of OPTAMID, plastic deflection rollers adapt better to the cable, which results in more contact points between cable and roller. Surface pressure between the deflection roller and cable is lower, and cables are subject to less alternate bending. This helps to increase the lifetime of the cable. Vibrations are reduced by the material s excellent properties. The semi-finished rollers are always in stock; all that is required is for the cable groove, i.e. the shape and distance of the groove to be finished to your individual requirements. Lightweight for emergencies OPTAMID deflection rollers are always dyed yellow and do not need to be painted. On request, we will also supply the rollers including bearings and axles. Needless to say, OPTAMID deflection rollers can also be supplied in any other dimensions. Due to the tremendous success of OPTAMID deflection rollers, Schwartz has devised a standard programme that contains various roller sizes with diameters from 160 to 650 mm and widths of 40 to 200 mm, which can be used as deflection, counter weight or car pulley. Every elevator is fitted with a hand wheel that is used to manually move the cabin in the event of an emergency. We manufacture hand wheels in our thermoplastic material OPTAMID and our duroplastic quality LAMINEX. Both materials offer the advantage of a much lower specific weight than metals. This means that our plastic hand wheels have a considerable weight advantage, which in turn means a lower centrifugal mass (GD³). Hand wheels made of OPTAMID and LAMINEX do not need to be balanced. Both materials can be dyed yellow, which means they do not need painting. Hand wheels can also be manufactured with a steel centre. Of course, OPTAMID and LAMINEX hand wheels retain their shapes, and are highly resistant to impacts and blows.

6 In the name of comfort The materials all offer interesting advantages: Escalators Those things we still like to call moving stairs are primarily an aid to our comfort. Originally they were only intended to save our legs, but today s item has to be kind to our ears too. Reason enough for us to take a closer look at the noisy parts that is to say, the driving and driven components. Even today, chain wheels, gear wheels, V-belt and pulley wheels are still often made of metal. For many years, we at Schwartz have been making these products out of our hard-working technical plastics LAMIGAMID and LAMINEX. Gear and chain wheels and V- belt pulleys are made of LAMIGAMID 310 to 319 and LAMIGAMID 1200, and gear pulleys of LAMIGAMID 310 or LAMINEX Quiet running in operation. Light Weight. Which of the many available materials is used is determined solely by your application and individual requirements and circumstances. We perform all the necessary calculations for all products, then prepare the design for the item in plastic, and manufacture the finished item. Of course, geared and chain wheels, V-belt and gear pulleys can also be combined with metal bushes or shafts. Form-closed metal core in the moulds ensure the optimum power introduction, so that geared and chain wheels, V-belt and gear pulleys of almost any size can be used in a wide range of applications.
