HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE This guide is designed to provide you with clear and practical advice to help you choose the right product for effective weed control in your combinable crops: advice that will be of real value on the farm. This guide is set out in two sections one for weeds in cereals and one for weeds in oilseed rape. In each section you ll find the main problem weeds listed adjacent to the best solution to control them. The information includes timing advice against the growth stages of the crop. There is also a brief overview of our products relevant to rotation, varieties and cultivation. More detailed technical information, including potential tank mixes, is available in our individual product sheets, which can be found online at DOWNLOAD THE APP You can put product information in your hand in an instant by downloading the Dow AgroSciences Product Finder. Specifically designed for UK farmers and advisers growing cereals and oilseed rape crops, product information on the app includes weed lists and tank mixes, as well as key facts, following crops and how to optimise a spray application. There is a useful Cereals Weed Wizard, which enables the user to select from a list of weeds and find the most suitable solution. The app can also be used for contact information and there is a link to the latest News from Dow AgroSciences. Go to the Apple App Store to download. ASTROKERB ASTROKERB is a contact and residual herbicide delivering control of blackgrass, poppy, mayweed and other grass and in winter oilseed rape. For blackgrass and other grassweeds, the power of KERB FLO 500 (propyzamide) has stood the test of time. With no reports of blackgrass resistance, ASTROKERB is a vital weapon to fight grassweeds. ASTROKERB also provides enhanced performance against certain such as mayweed and poppy. ASTROKERB in the rotation ASTROKERB can be applied to oilseed rape crops preceding winter or spring sown cereals and delivers a high level of blackgrass control ahead of a first wheat. ASTROKERB and varieties ASTROKERB can be used on any variety of oilseed rape, including hybrids. ASTROKERB and cultivations Ideally, ASTROKERB should be applied to winter oilseed rape that has been established by min-till cultivations. After harvest, treated land should be mouldboard ploughed to a depth of 15cm before sowing cereals. UNITE Pyroxsulam and flupyrsulfuron-methyl in a blend specially developed for UK conditions. UNITE in the rotation Cereals, grass, oilseed rape and beans may safely follow a winter wheat crop treated with UNITE. There are no restrictions on crops for the following spring. UNITE and varieties UNITE can be used on any variety of winter wheat sown in autumn or early spring UNITE and cultivations There is no need for cultivations following a crop treated with UNITE, ideal if you want to establish winter oilseed rape by min-till cultivations. BROADWAY STAR The herbicide that delivers outstanding control of a wide range of both grass and in winter wheat. BROADWAY STAR in the rotation Cereals, grass, oilseed rape and beans may safely follow a winter wheat crop treated with BROADWAY STAR. There are no restrictions on crops for the following spring. BROADWAY STAR and varieties BROADWAY STAR can be used on any variety of winter wheat sown in autumn or early spring. KERB FLO 500 in the rotation KERB FLO 500 can be used on winter oilseed rape and winter field beans enabling the most effective use of a break crop in a combinable crops rotation. KERB FLO 500 and varieties KERB FLO 500 can be used on all varieties of winter oilseed rape and winter beans. KERB FLO 500 and cultivations Following a crop treated with KERB FLO 500 land must be mouldboard ploughed to a depth of 15 cm prior to drilling a following cereal, grass or other crop not listed on the label. Levels of resistance are escalating in many types of weeds and chemicals alone are no longer the answer. Effective weed control depends on understanding specific opportunities in each crop across the whole rotation. That is why Dow AgroSciences have created LifeCycle, utilising decades of research and expertise in both cereal and OSR crops. LifeCycle works with your whole farm approach helping you effectively control weeds throughout the whole rotation. GALAXY The proven broad-leaved weedkiller with three active ingredients for punch in applications in all major cereals. GALAXY in the rotation GALAXY can be used on all winter and spring sown wheat, barley and oats. GALAXY and varieties GALAXY can be used on all varieties of recommended crops. GALAXY and cultivations There is no need for cultivations following a crop treated with GALAXY. The herbicide that made cleavers a manageable weed and still provides outstanding control with no reports of herbicide resistance in the UK. STARANE 2 in the rotation STARANE 2 can be used on all winter and spring sown wheat, barley and oats as well as rye, triticale and durum wheat. STARANE 2 can be applied to undersown crops, provided grass is tillering and there are no legumes. STARANE 2 and varieties STARANE 2 can be used on all varieties of recommended crops. STARANE 2 and cultivations There is no need for cultivations following a crop treated with STARANE 2. DOW SHIELD 400 A post-emergence herbicide to provide economic control of a range of perennial and annual broad-leaved weeds in oilseed rape and a wide range of other crops. DOW SHIELD 400 in the rotation Neither peas or beans should be sown in the same year as treatment with DOW SHIELD 400. Where susceptible crops are to be sown the following year, do not apply DOW SHIELD 400 later than the end of July in the previous year. DOW SHIELD 400 and varieties DOW SHIELD 400 can be used on all varieties of winter and spring oilseed rape, including hybrids. DOW SHIELD 400 and cultivations Following a crop treated with DOW SHIELD 400, chop and incorporate all treated plant remains in early autumn (or as soon as possible after harvest) to release any residues into the soil to ensure rapid breakdown. The six crucial elements to your effective whole farm approach. Because every farm is different, every whole farm approach is different.
