2 Seminar on Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops: participants attended: scientists, academicians, students, policy makers, farmers, journalists, agro-businessmen, and also general public. Total 35 articles in 11 printed media, 17 online media and 3 electronic media Impression: 4.8 million
3 Dr. Rusman Heryawan, the vice-minister of agriculture said that the Indonesian Government supports GM crops research as mentioned in PP He also shared that through the IAARD, the government s policy on GM research includes increasing and building human resource capacities, facilities, and management of local genetic resources, and also establishing a National Commision for Biosafety.

5 Workshop on "The Role of Biotechnology in Potato Breeding and its Regulations in Indonesia" (Lembang, 14 February 2012) The workshop brought together 49 farmers and agricultural officials A visit to field trials for biotech potato at the Indonesian Vegetables Research Institute (IVRI) showed participants the difference in growth between biotech crops and its control.
6 Workshop on Modern Agriculture for Brighter Future (19 June 2012) The workshop aims to build biotechnology knowledge for Government Officers and other stakeholders to improve their ability to be able speaking out to the public in order to accelerate biotech acceptance in Indonesia. The head of agricultural bureau of North Sumatera, Ir. M. Roem S. expressed his enthusiasm on accepting biotechnology crops especially in North Sumatera. Biotechnology Expert Dialog 2012 (10 July 2012) Theme: Genetically Engineered Crop vs Food Security. Dr. Roger Beachy, director of Donald Danforth Plant Science Research Centre gave the keynote talk on "Worldwide outlook of genetically engineered crop deployment and their significant contribution in world food security. 179 participants from universities, research institutions, private sectors, agricultural practitioners, students and public
7 Workshop on Responsible Conduct of Research in Indonesia (10 September 2012) Dr. Shoba Ramanand of Michigan University Breakfast Meeting With Dr. Graham Brookes (17 September 2012) Dr. Graham Brookes highlighted the global economic and environmental benefits of GM crops.
8 Biotechnology Safety and Issue Management Workshop (20 October 2012) To enhance participants' understanding of the key principles of biosafety and risk assessment of genetically modified organisms. Featured speaker, scientist Dr. Rashmi S. Nair of Monsanto provided information on the global adoption of biotech crops and how the technology benefits adopting countries.
9 TOT Workshop on The Role of Biotechnology in Potato Breeding and its Regulations in Indonesia (20 December 2012) This event brought about 40 participants consisted of farmers, agricultural officers, scientists from Tosari, Banjarnegara, Bandung, Pangalengan, Garut and Bogor. This workshop was aimed at encouraging farmers, agricultural officers and scientist to be able to share their knowledge on potato breeding technology to their colleagues especially in their region.
10 PUBLIC PERCEPTION SURVEY This research was conducted from December 2012 to February 2013 in several potato growing areas in four provinces in Indonesia, such as North Sumatera (Berastagi, Kemantren, Merek, Tiga Panah and Karo Regency), West Java (Pangalengan and Garut), Central Java (Dieng-Wonosobo) and East Java (Tosari- Pasuruan).
11 PUBLICATION A book on The role of biotechnology in potato breeding and its regulations in Indonesia has been launched on 20 December This book covers three main topics include: 1. A conventional potato breeding technique 2. Biotech potato with late blight resistant caused by phytopthora infestans 3. Biotech crops and its regulation in Indonesia
