2 Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam is a compact, multi-functional diode laser capable of performing surgical, minimally invasive and transcutaneous procedures. With an output power of up to 80 watts the system supports both continuous or pulse mode for procedures involving cutting, coagulation, ablation and vaporization. The Lightguide Protection System (LPS) and fibertom model technologies of the system provide special advanced safety and control features minimizing risk to the patient and fiber. Absorption Absorption Spectra Ideal Wavelength The absorption characteristics of the 940 nm wavelength is ideal for the treatment of blood vessels and perfused tissue making it perfect for application in vessel closure and surgical procedures. Additionally, the low melanin absorption allows transcutaneous treatments on a wide variety of skin types. Wavelength (µm) Diode Power Bar Technology The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam is equipped with Diode Power Bar technology which combines individual bars of high performance diodes into a single block with integrated cooling. The laser light generated is focused by micro-optics and coupled directly into the laser fiber. The benefits are higher efficiency than other technologies and long operating life.

4 Normal Normal Operation A normal fiber tip achieving optimal results on vein tissue layers. Damaged No LPS Feedback Fiber tip starts to char, absorbing laser light and producing unwanted damaging heat. Protected LPS Feedback Tip has charred, triggering feedback and the LPS shut off for protection. Dornier s Lightguide Fiber Protection System (LPS) Lightguide Protection System Based upon proprietary technology, the Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam comes equipped with a unique Lightguide Protection System (LPS) that detects light emissions originating from excess heat at the fiber tip. When detected, the LPS system automatically turns off the laser to prevent damage to the fiber and tissue. Treatment Flexibility The Angiospot external handpiece allows the transcutaneous treatment of a variety of vascular lesions including spider veins, telangiectasias and hemangiomas. Lightguide Versatility There are a variety of fibers that are available with the Medilas D MultiBeam which can be used to perform endovenous laser treatment of varicose veins as well as a variety of surgical applications using the cutting and coagulation techniques.
