3 SUMMARY In today s consumer market there are various video enabled devices such as smart phones, tablets. TVs are becoming smarter to be called as connected TV ; interconnectivity has increased between TV & smartphone, tablets. For MSO s, broadcasters and content aggregators, this means new feature additions for their legacy & new systems. L&T Technology services, understands this growing requirement and has developed a unique module driven software that can address it. It is called Smart Media Controller or in short SMC. This software with its modules can convert any web server into a multi-screen server. As a result, SMC can boost revenue for MSO s, video broadcasters and aggregators with improved end user viewing experience. ABR & Content Manager Module: Advanced Bit rate (ABR) is a unique algorithm developed that efficiently manages network bandwidth through device negotiation.

This module can be seamlessly integrated into any existing/legacy server of Video broadcasters and service providers and this will provide improved viewing experience.

4 ABR & Content Manager Module: Advanced Bit rate (ABR) is a unique algorithm developed that efficiently manages network bandwidth through device negotiation. As a result, it increase channel throughput. It supports both HLS and MPEG DASH technology. This module can be seamlessly integrated into any existing/legacy server of Video broadcasters and service providers and this will provide improved viewing experience. Recommendation engine Module: This is an advanced recommendation logic that would serve the basic need of a video service provider and broadcaster. This module has features such as Top rated, Mostly Viewed videos. Advanced Ad-Insertion Module: With advanced recommendation engine, this module has the capability of dynamic ad- insertion (for Video operators) as well as predefined Ad-insertion (for Video broadcasters). 5 BENEFITS SMC has varied applications from home entertainment to auto infotainment. Users connected to webserver through Wi-Fi can experience seamless video viewing in both Home and vehicle environment (Figure 4). Moreover, SMC with its module-driven approach is also a cost effective deployment.
