4 LICENSE VS. SAAS Own vs. Lease

5 LICENSE You own the rights to use the software That ownership is a capital asset You pay maintenance for support and upgrades You manage and use the software as you wish You upgrade or not as you wish You are responsible for backup/recovery, patching, etc. All governed by your license contract

6 SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE - SAAS You lease the software on periodic agreements usually 3 or 5 years No upfront license fee License, support, upgrades and system management are replaced by a single lease payment Infor takes responsibility for all operations, patching and backup/recovery Upgrades can be automatic or periodic There are some restrictions on system modifications, extensions and integrations

8 HOSTING Also known as Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) and other terms A third party hosts your application remotely The third party manages the hardware and OS The third party manages backup/recovery OS and hardware upgrades might be included On-premise remote management is an option: Third party remotely manages your on-premise hardware

9 MANAGED SERVICES Also known as Application Management Services (AMS) Full management of the application, including support, patching, operations management Can be provided remotely to your on premise application or can be provided to your application in a hosting center

10 CLOUD Hosting and AMS are part of the cloud service Not separately charged, part of the SaaS fee

11 SINGLE TENANT VS. MULTI-TENANT House vs. Apartment

12 SINGLE TENANT Much like your on-premise deployment each customer lives in a separate partition on a single server. No sharing of databases No sharing of code base No sharing of extensions, modifications or integrations Allows maximum customer flexibility, but raises costs Modifications, extensions and integrations may be allowed

13 MULTI-TENANT Some or all of the application components are shared between customers (tenants) on a single server Code base Most multi-tenancy involves a single shared code base Patching and upgrades happen simultaneously for all tenants Modifications and extensions are strictly limited or not allowed Database Multiple tenants share a single physical database, logically separated by a tenant ID and security setup Requires extensive changes to most applications to support Database extensions and changes strictly limited or not allowed

High Availability is standard with Infor cloud Continuous data replication from production to a target machine Target machine is fully loaded and keyed Target is in a remote data center with dedicated comm link Backups are done on the target machine where feasible Hosting provider monitors servers constantly Hosting provider replaces hardware as needed IBMi is incredibly reliable
